I'm not sure that the entirety of DOMA has been struck down. One of the other news items I read on this just now stated that the key part, which denied federal rights and benefits to same-sex couples, has been struck down. However, it left intact the section that affirms individual states are not required to recognize same-sex marriages as legal, since that section was not being challenged in this particular case.

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-do...

So if the politicians do their job now and clean up the laws to comply with the Supreme Court ruling, the rest of the mess should get cleaned up including forcing states to honor the "full faith and credit" clause of the Constitution. States shouldn't be allowed to disrespect legal decisions (like who is legally married) that were made in other states.

Nope, entirety. It was a broad decision.

Agree.

Where's the toll pretend lawyer from Vermont who predicted Prop 8 would be upheld and DOMA wouldn't have any equal protection as part of the ruling?

Run & hide like the cowards they are......

Hardly much comfort for you, I am afraid, sweetie. The people dying from AID are largely heterosexual Africans nowadays. HIV+ people on protease inhibitors now have normal life expectancies and are dying in old age of other causes. Sorry.
