Now that's a Gov. who knows how to lead.

I'll be filing my state taxes as married even though Michigan still refuses to recognize our marriage.

They'll have to drag me into court if they expect me to lie and file as single.

This gives Missouri a leg up over the other hate states when federal troops arrive to enforce equality

Gays are a prominent segment of the underground economy, thus most of the gays will neither become married, nor file joint returns. The biggest reason gays will marry is to advantage the laws precluding them from having to testify against their "spouse" for known illegal behavior. They see the opening for more refined predatory behavior and drug pushing by advantaging that loophole.

The Governor is just warming up the constituency for the 2014 Elections.

Didn't you hear the cry, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" ?

He's term-limited out of the Governor's office. There has been talk for the last couple of years now that he might run for President. I personally don't think he has the name recognition to achieve it, but these days who knows? Look how far that dingbat from Alaska went.

He doesn't need to be running for election. There are jobs in Party administration, and Government appointments wherever they win.

I think he's cranking the wheel for his Party. The moderates in his Party (and among the opposition) will like this. The far right will be galvanized.

Getting out the Vote for non-Presidential Election years is always challenging.

The Republicans have a strangle hold on the Missouri Legislature. The only place you find Democrats and Independents these days are in the two largest cities, St. Louis and Kansas City. The vast waste land in between is a Republican and Tea Party enclave.

Let me guess ... Farm subsidies for the GOPers and shoot-themselves-in-both-feet idiocy for the rest?
