Gay rights includes statutory rape now? If a straight guy has sex with a 14 year old girl, he goes to jail for a long time.

Maybe gays are different.

Gays are extra special people and above the law. They get special rights, privileges, protections and everything they demand.

If this state has a Romeo and Juliet law that applies only to straight couples, she's got a good chance of overcoming these charges if she has the will and the resources.

You know what gays want. They want this case to be one that leads to all laws about statutory rape and sex with minors to be tossed right out. That way they can prey on kids as much as they want. An 18-year-old with a 14-year-old is in no way a "romance." That is predatory action. I hope they stand their ground in this case. But there is no way that an 18-year-old guy should get charged with a crime for having sex with a 14-year-old girl and a an 18-year-old girl shouldn't. Gays protesting this shows how amoral they really are.

You've spent enough time here to know damn well that's not "what gays want," SniKKKers. Doesn't your christianity tell you not to lie? Or is it OK when it furthers your homophobic agenda? You're truly a worthless hatemongering POS.

Let's be clear of the facts: the 18 year old has a girlfriend who is 15, not 14. And Florida does have a "Romeo and Juliet" law that specifically provides that age difference example as the type of relationship that should be dismissed from prosecution as a sex offense.

I don't think an 18 year old, i.e. and ADULT, of whatever gender or sexual orientation, should be having a sexual relationship wit a 15 year old, i.e. a child, no matter what their gender or sexual orientation.

You have to draw these lines somewhere, and no matter WHERE you draw them, you are ALWAYS going to have SOMEBODY screaming: "But I'm ONLY one day (or week, or month, or year, etc....) over the line !"

So you're okay with statutory rape?

Be clear and declare yourself, you sick bastard. Are you okay with an adult (the 18 year old) having sex with a 15 year old? If such a relationship were in the Ozarks with a one tooth wonder, would you make fun of them and mention something about people who have sex with their mother/sister/cousin, all the same person?

These people are gay so you give statutory rape a pass.

And you give the anti-gays a field day with your bullsh!t. You may be gay but by trying to rationalize and excuse this, you have no reason at all to be proud.

If an 18 yr old boy was having sex with my 14 yr old daughter, I'd have his sorry rear end in jail in a heartbeat. If an 18 yr old boy was having sex with my 14 yr old son, it would be the same. I don't see this as much different.

But sadly, adolescents are not the brightest when they make decisions, especially emotional ones, and, sadly, this one is going to ruin one girl's life, and perhaps even the other, from guilt.

It's not about "love". it's about legal consent. Period.

And a 14 yr old can't legally consent.

We need to drill this home in our kids.

And I ignored this line, because it was beneath you. Why in the WORLD would you lump every gay person, including gay parents like myself, into such a sentence?

Isn't statutory rape pretty common with strait folks? I seem to recall stats regarding the percentage of underage pregnancies started by adult males that seem to prove that point.

Why make blanket statements that you KNOW are lies?

It makes you seem irrational and foolish.

If you look at the header, it noted that "gay rights advocates" were coming to the defense of the adult 18 year old woman. I am not lumping every gay person into anything. I was merely making a point. Gay and Proud seemed to suggest that since the relationship was romantic in nature and the statutory rape element did not apply, invoking some "Romeo & Juliet" law which the police and prosecution in Florida apparently don't believe applies. He also suggested that despite two references in the piece, the minor child was fifteen rather than fourteen.

I have not one word of dissent with your post. And yes, adolescents are not the brightest... ever.
