Neither Friend of Court or Culture: Obama Asks Supreme Court to Undermine Marriage

There are 22 comments on the www.catholic.org story from Mar 2, 2013, titled Neither Friend of Court or Culture: Obama Asks Supreme Court to Undermine Marriage. In it, www.catholic.org reports that:

WASHINGTON,DC (Catholic Online) - On February 28, 2013, the Department of Justice of the Obama Administration filed what is called a Friend of the Court or Amicus Brief in the case styled Hollingsworth v Perry. The entire brief can be read here. I understand the use of such briefs. I have filed many in various capacities over the years. In this instance, the President is neither a friend of the Court or the Culture.

It's not surprising at all that the Catholic Church would make this sort of ridiculous claim. After all, by Catholic logic, the mere existence of other religions automatically undermines the Catholic faith!

Catholic faith, and heterosexual marriage, must be awfully fragile things if the mere existence of alternatives is so threatening.

To date I have neither seen nor heard somebody criticize an argument by calling it "sophistry" without then using the same kind of argument.

The Roman Catholic Church is UN-American because it is legally a foreign state, and they do NOT believe in, nor support in any way, shape, or form, Freedom of Religion.

The correct term for this is: PURE EVIL

This article is one of the worst hack jobs I've read on the subject--and I've read many. Most high school newspaper editors would have sent it back.

I don't know if Catholic Online is influential or supported by the Roman Catholic hierarchy. But owning the url www.catholic.org suggests they have substance. Surely they have better writers and better editors.

There are many hyperbolic statements passing beyond any reasonable stretch of the truth. There are many clearly false attributions to POTUS, the Justice Department, and society generally. In other words, it wouldn't take long under questioning to force both the writer and the editor to admit that they published outright lies.

The Roman Catholic Church needs to get control over this domain and rein in the chaotic breast-beating. If they don't control the domain already, they should buy it. It can't be too difficult with a third rate writing and editing staff like that.

The RCC is in it's war mode. At such times, the plausible deniability of such sites is just what they want.

Lies? Calumny? Detraction?

They'll go to confession and mumble some rote prayers and it'll be all good.

<quoted text>It's not surprising that you deviant gays would lie about this issue. After all, we knew that civil unions were a ploy to be used as an equal protection issue. Gays also used the May to Sept 2008 same sex marriages as a ploy to argue equal protection and denial of equal rights of gays in the same class. The mere existence of parents, children, straights and people without AIDS automatically undermines the gay mental illness denial.
Gay delusions and pedophilia must be awfully fragule things if he mere exisence of bestiality and necrophioa is so threatening.
I was into sadism, bestiality and necrophilia.
Then I realized I was just beating a dead horse.

It's the game they play - if they can drive interesting posters off the thread they succeed in shutting it down. And they mark that as a win.

It's sad.

I guess when they're on the losing side of history they've got to take the tiny victories (hollow as they might be) where they can.

Am I a British cigarette or a ritually tied bundle of sticks used by the Catholics to burn people at the stake? No, I'm not.

If, in your juvenile way, you're asking if I'm gay, then yes, I am, and damn proud of it as well.

As long as " God " continues to be invoked in this matter gay Americans and the law can confidently disregard whatever kind of rhetoric is employed .. All carefully designed to intimidate by those very well trained to do so..
