The first openly gay bishop in the American Episcopal Church has recently said he "can't believe the progress we have made" regarding the passage of gay rights in the US, since he would not have dreamt of growing up seeing same-sex marriage legalised in 15 states.

Sin always catches on faster than something pure before God.
For example, I find that even Christians have an easier time remembering a dirty joke than a Bible verse, remembering filthy words instead of Gospel words like redemption, justification and forgiveness, and excusing sin instead of condemning sin.
So it is not surprising that the sin of homosexuality has caught on as fast as the sin of killing unborn children did or using God's name in vain in public - or private - did, or the sin of ignoring God's Word in church and private devotions did or as rapidly as "no fault" divorce did. People find out that the world did not come to an end when they deliberately sin so they think it must be okay with God. In the Bible they asked, "Where is the God of judgment?" Do people really think modern sin goes unnoticed by God whereas the sin in earlier human history did not?
