Dolan: Catholics 'outmarketed' on gay marriage

Nov 29, 2013 Full story: WAFF-TV Huntsville 38

New York's Cardinal Timothy Dolan says the Roman Catholic Church has been "outmarketed" on the issue of gay marriage and has been "caricatured as being anti-gay."

The simple truth is that Roman Catholic leaders such as Dolan, and his compatriots, do NOT believe in, nor support, the concept of "Freedom Of Religion". And they therefore do not believe in, nor support the First Amendment, the Bill Of Rights, nor the U.S. Constitution.

They are therefore, UN-AMERICAN.

To PROVE my point:

There are certain Protestant denominations, such as ELCA & UCC, and other non-Christian religions, that permit and bless same-gender marriages in their houses of worship. By DEMANDING that the state governments, and federal government, NOT legally recognize those same-gender marriages performed in houses of worship, with the blessings of a particular religion or Christian denomination, while at the same time DEMANDING that said governments legally recognize Roman Catholic marriages, the Roman Catholic Church is amply demonstrating that they simply do NOT believe in the concept of religious freedom. They just don't.

This IS UN-AMERICAN.

Out-marketed???? Seriously??

Granted, most Americans are STUPID with a capital "S" and actually WILL believe anything they're told by someone on the TV machine (because the government won't let them say it on the TV machine if it's not true, you know), but with all the a-holes out there screaming and raging about the evils of gay people marrying, and the trend is STILL moving toward acceptance of full equality, I kinda don't think this is a marketing issue. I'm pretty sure it's a reality issue.

I'm glad you recognize that ELCA and UCC are non-Christian, but there still is no logical connection between marriage and anything homosexual.

No homosexual relationship shares the reasons for government involvement in real marriage. No child is ever born as a direct result of homosexual relationships and no economically unequal genders are involved. Homosexual 'marriage' has been overwhelmingly rejected by homosexuals themselves as an actual practice, so it isn't a basic building block of homosexual society much less of American society.

No run along and forget trying to force your concocted nonsense into law against the will of most Americans.

Who did you think made you homofascists the American Talliban?

Why not practice a little 'live and let live?'

Why not be tolerant of the beliefs and rights of others?

Your first sentence is very funny.

The rest presupposes and asserts a lot of things which just aren't the facts.

The Government has never stated a purpose for it's involvement in marriage at all. No statements of intent.

Those are purely yours.

Other may have different intents ... as is their freedom and right.

Maybe what they are selling is just a bad product.

And if Dolan etal doesn't like the state's definition of marriage, they are free to stop performing the state civil marriage and keep their activities on the church's religious Rite of Marriage and leave the the civil marriage to the state.

Wow! Pekin, IL, is back. Haven't heard from him for quite awhile. Of course, everything he says is pure bunk and his arguments are specious.

And to Ewen I say: Tolerance of the beliefs of others doesn't require us to tolerate those who hate us or work to hurt us. I may tolerate you being a boxer, but I will not tolerate you punching me in the nose.

You finally got out of the mental institution for a weekend David? That's quite as surprise as sick as you are.

Same ole David. Since everyone knows your shtick, why not just post under your own name?

All the gay folks marrying all over the country must drive you nuts. Why, it's even legal in YOUR state!

It's not "marketing", it's folks coming out in droves. It's much more difficult to fear and hate those you know and love, isn't it?

And that even applies to the Catholic folks, to the horror of the hierarchy.

Maintaining the American wing of the Catholic Church and its services, at a level to which Catholics and those running it have become accustomed is an expensive proposition to begin with and the Pope's call to minister and give aid to the poor and disenfranchised are an unfunded mandate. Times are tight for the faithful, who aren't in the mood to pay off the bad behavior of their clergy anyways. Their money has been coming from pushing their pro-life/pro-family agenda, not from having their clergy do good works in their community. They don't particularly mind if they receive donations from non-Catholics through their various entities and being anti-abortion and anti-gay plays well among the neutral-Catholic and their bank accounts. They need this money and putting these projects on hold would be a serious hit to the Catholic lifestyle.

Golly Gee Your Eminence, why would people think such a thing?

It's got to be a conspiracy against the R.C.C. and Christianity! Look at how much people attack Christmas!

ROFLMAO!
