and yes i am happily married to my wife of 11 years in which i recieved my fathers blessing before i married her.i do believe that being gay is a choice just as being straight, being christian, or any other choice you make in life regardless of what scientist think. and for the question about if my children or child chose to be gay, they would be allwed in my home but their mate would not, dont know how to make that any more clear. if i was to allow their mate in my home that would mean that i aprove of what they do and that just will not happen.

Explain why you are quoting Leviticus, when no Christian today follows the old Hebrew laws? Do you?

Do you actually follow ALL the laws in the Bible, such as prohibitions on divorce which came straight from Jesus' mouth? Slavery laws? Sacrifice laws?

Do you pick and choose?

If you actually follow all the old Biblical/Levitical laws, then I will apologise.

If not, then you need to look at your own life before judging others.

In other words, two men having sex should not pretend to be a man and woman--gender roles were very specific in the hebrew culture. No cross-dressing, no perfumes, no make-up, etc.

Please cite the exact time when you decided to be straight. For this to have been a choice you would have had to be attracted to both males and females to begin with.

Would your wife invite your son's gay lover into the house?

Then you would turn against your child hypothetically speaking. NO you do not understand sexual orientation, it's not that, You know how you were born attracted to the opposite sex, well alot of us did not get that. We were given something else no matter how long you argue the point that it is a choice, you will never win, and we won't either God does not make mistakes, he has a reason for everything. We just have to wait till he comes to see his reasoning.

my wife shares by beliefs and values. and i do follow the whole bible to the best of my ability, every night i try to ask for forgiveness. Christ came not so that the old laws should be cast away, he came as an example to us. soi know i do sin, but i ask for forgiveness and try not to do the same things again. as Christ said, you are forgiven, but go and sin no more.

It was refering to the temple prostitution by the pagan people who were the major population of the "promised land". The leaders wanted to make sure that their folk did not stray in this new land (remember the golden calf?)The Levitical restictions were to keep the "Chosen People" safe and continuing to worship God.

Leviticus 18:22?

Christian Father, to really understand the true meaning of the verse and what the rule applies to, you must also understand the historical context which prompted this rule.

The model of loving, long-term homosexual relationships did not meaningfully exist at the time of Leviticus. It's simply unreasonable to believe the author of Leviticus intended to prohibit a form of homosexual relationship that did not exist at the time. When read in textual and historical context, the prohibitions in Leviticus 18 and 20 are clearly directed at homosexual temple prostitution.

i am not saying that being exposed to gays is going to turn them gay, i am saying that i dont want some gay trying to fill my childrens head with lies about how it is ok to be gay and that the bible is wrong.you say i am teaching my children to be prejudice, maybe i am, but not against gays, but against the gay lifestyle. i teach my children to love all people regardless of their differences, but they dont have to love the differences.
Your children, depending on their ages, may well be unable to differentiate the message of "dislike for someone's lifestyle" (a false term; gays *DON'T* have a lifestyle, or else heterosexuals have a single lifestyle, as well -- see how it's illogical?) and the message of "dislike for a person." You may unwittingly be teaching your children to hate gays.

Moreover, it's *incredible* to me that you think it's *your* business to tell them *someone else* is wrong on a moral ground which has no basis in fact. Reread carefully: basis *IN FACT*. For if *THE BIBLE* is your source of "fact," sir, then I can *ASSURE* you that science also has fact on its side ... and science is saying that gay people were *born that way*; perhaps you were unaware.
Now you're not unaware anymore. Now you can only choose to disbelieve science.

And at *that* point, you betcha, you're gonna look more prejudiced than you even do now.

You sound far too foolish for me to deal with this post at length.

You actually sound paranoid, and you sound uneducated.

So "sorry" to speak bluntly. It's my habit here, particularly in dealing with people of your ilk.

Why?

Because you *JUST STATED* that someone or something has to dovetail with *your* established belief for you to accept it.

If you're not up to learning anything more in your life, WHY are you still here? This is senseless; I have no time for bullshit like yours, "sorry" to say.

I can assure you, however, that you *WON'T* ever be telling *ME* what to think. That's guaranteed.

The so-called "christians" not only do so; but their *acts* betray their agenda and those *acts*, visible for all to see, are in direct contravention of the *biblical message* they supposedly tout/disseminate.

Direct contravention.

For all to see.

It's incredible to me that you "christians" think you're accomplishing much of anything.

Because what you *are* accomplishing goes under the names of division; hatred; lies; turning people against people.

Oh, wait. The BIBLE mentions these things.

But of course it couldn't be YOU, could it? It HAS GOT to be someone else doing it, never *you*.

Well, newsflash.

I don't buy a word you say.

Because I can see what your *acts* and your *words* create in humanity. That tells me everything I need to know.

you talk of peace, love and equal rights, then turn around and insult me. people like YOU are the ones that hold the hatered for anyone that has different beliefs. you are no better than the so called christian that do violent acts. and i never told you what to think. all i ever said to begin with (with getting back to the topic of the forum) was that i do not believe that same sex marriage should not be a subject that our children need to be learning or focusing on in school as is any other form of marriage or anything other than basic education. that should be a subject left to the parents and their families beliefs. SO STOP TRYING TO ATTACK MY INTELLIGENCE AND GET BACK TO THE TOPIC. see i can yell too

Are you saying that children in school should not discuss current events? Gay marriage is certainly a major part of the political and legal landscape at this time; what is an education for if not to know about the world around us?

Keep in mind that gay marriage is a LEGAL issue, not a religious one. What your church believes on the issue has no bearing on the political rights of american citizens.
