As a Senate committee prepares to hold public hearings in Sydney this week on Labor's draft national anti-discrimination laws, there's growing outrage within the LGBTI community and elsewhere over the wide-ranging exemptions offered to religious bodies and other groups that will allow them to continue to legally discriminate against people on several grounds including sexual orientation and gender identity.

Do you mean like the left wing hypocrite that said we shouldn't raise the debt ceiling for it will burden our children. Or the same hypocrite that said he would cut the deficit in half when campaigning the 'first' time?
That hypocrite?

We talk about tolerance, we demand tolerance from religious folk, yet we show no tolerance at all towards them. While we certainly disagree with their beliefs, why do we wish to do to them the very thing we fault them for?

We object to the use of government power to enforce a morality we believe to be irrelevant at best and hateful at worst. Yet we would use that same power to force Catholic institutions to provide birth control to their employees, which would violate their beliefs and morals. We would use the power of government to fund abortion and other things that many find morally reprehensible with taxes levied on charities?

For all our talk about tolerance, we LGBT folk are among the LEAST tolerant people groups in society.

What happened to live and let live? Why can't a gay person be pro-life, or fiscally conservative, or - GASP - Republican? Or even Christian!?

I know I'm brand new to (legal) adulthood, and still have alot to learn about politics and such, but being gay doesn't require me to be politically liberal, religiously atheist, and morally in complete agreement with a certain political party.

You obviously have very little understanding of Gay history in this nation. Well that and "End of teen years Know Everything Syndrome".

Do yourself a favor and educate yourself about the history of Gays and how we have been treated for the past century. Learn what we went through with AIDS, decades of military life, job discrimination, having to hide ones sexual orientation for fear of possible death and much, much more.

Much of the rest of your post reads like youre the spawn of Rush Limbaugh and a huge fan of FOX News. Or are you just gaming us?

Granted I have alot to learn. Intolerance towards gays is certainly a tragic part of human history. But you didn't address my point at all. Which was:

Being gay does NOT mean I HAVE to also be atheist, or a Democrat, or pro-abortion, etc. I think alot of Black people experience the same sort of thing I'm feeling. Does it mean you aren't Black if you voted for Herman Cain instead of Barak Obama? Does being Black make it mandatory to play the game that Al Sharpton and other militant race-baiters play? Alot of Black people disagree with Obama and are ostracized by the majority in the Black community, treated as though they were traitors to their race simply because they believe in smaller, less intrusive government. All I'm trying to say is that it shouldn't be that way. Blacks who believe in political conservatism, Roman Catholicism, or whatever, should not be treated as pariahs by their own people. They should be free to disagree, and disagreeing doesn't make them any "less Black" than the others.

Same with gay folk. I'm no less gay, and no less a member of the gay community, if I have a different opinion on political or religious or ideological points.

You were too busy belittling me to get the point, perhaps.

And no, I'm not a big fan of Fox News nor Rush Limbaugh. Would I be "less gay" if I were? I don't think so.

Reread the post above yours to see what kind of assholes we're dealing with here.

That's right, you do have a lot to learn. Get back to us after you learn it and maybe you could be taken seriously.

Have a bunch of "Christians" convince your Grandmother to drag you into church so the can do an exorcism on you while the "Christians" beat the devil out of you and spit in your face just for the sport of it.

How dare you use the name of our President in the same sentence and in comparison to someone as idiotic and STUPID as Herman Cain? You got problems with how black folks handle their politics I'd suggest you've come to the wrong forum.

No ones requiring you to be any friggin thing you don't want to be. Get off that cross, it's already taken! I could give half a dog turd if you're the Popes mother, have voted Liberitarian since birth, and have a sister with 14 out of wedlock kids. No one here cares, just don't be so stupid as to not give credit where it is due. In a mere four years Barrack Hussein Obama has done more for the Gay community than all the Presidents we've ever had, combined. Do yourself a favor and read the party platforms for both major parties and then defend the Republican positions on women's or gay rights. And then ask yourself why they lost the election and will continue to do so for a long time unless they steal elections or make people stand in even longer than five hour lines next time. Defend that kind of shit and get back to me, I wanna hear it.

Wow. Is hurling insults at me supposed to convince me to change my mind?

All you did was DEMONSTRATE the point I started with - that gays are among the most intolerant people in society. You yourself just proved it with that tirade.

No logic, no reason, just bitterness and insults.

I rest my case.
