transgender teen faces challenge

Aug 10, 2008 Full story: www.lohud.com 117

Michael Arone has been called every pejorative someone could direct at a transgender teen.

Arone, a North Rockland school district 10th-grader, is a male transgender teen who publicly goes by Melissa Andrews and prefers to be referred to as a female.

Arone said classmates have routinely called her "faggot," "she-male," "it" and "queer" in response to her wearing eye shadow and lipstick, straightening her shoulder-length brown hair and carrying a purse to school.

"She's dealing with a hate crime," said her mother, Patricia Arone, 37. "That's the only way to say it, it's hate."

Well, I think that's just one piece of evidence among way way to many that give so many people the want to silence you and shame your ignorant bigotry. Jesus you're an idiot! You're worse than Rush Limbaugh. Wow! You're even sadder than I originally thought.

Look, I'm intersexed and I don't hate trans-people.

This Sean loser may or may not be interesexed but don't think that their opinion reflects that of intersexed people.

If he or she is pissed because of getting lumped in with trans people I can sympathize, but it is not a good reason to turn into a bigot.

Trans teens should be free to express themselves in their gender identity at school so long as they conform with the dress code of the gender identity they're trying to express.

Some trans people do make me feel uncomfortable while others don't bother me at all.

But it seems like society pays attention to the so-called "scary trannies" (usually those who around wait til 40 or 50 to transition) and stereotype the whole trans community under it.

If people stop being so angry and unaccepting of trans people, there won't be that many "scary trannies" anymore because those who are genuinely GID will transition young enough (aka in their teens) to not look like cross-dressers later in life.

I'd argue that if someone has gender variance the time to resolve those issues are during puberty when technically one's physical gender is not set in stone. So, more support should be going to schools to resolve the matter while people are young rather than after they've married and had kids and have a long career in the wrong gender.

You may not "hate trans-people", but your prejudices are certainly showing. "Scary Trannies"? Until a few years ago, middle age was when most trans folk came out and not just crossdressers. Perhaps you're young enough to not remember a time when you couldn't look up everything on the web, but it wasn't always so easy. For many, the info simply wasn't there, nor was the opportunity. Just be thankful the info IS out there now, and the support is increasing. And while you're at it, thank some of those "Scary Trannies" who paved the way and still work to make sure the road is a little smoother for everyone.

Guess you've never been on the receiving end of decimation. Well, I have and it was because of my disability and there was no way to hide it, yet the school and even my parents did nothing to stop the other kids from throwing rocks at me at the bus stop or tripping, shoving and hitting me at school, the bus stop, and the neighborhood along with the name calling and such.

Try living with the bigotry of others when you don't have anyone to talk things over with or even just joke around with, try being told stupid things like, "Well if the kids tease you for the way you walk, don't walk that way.Ē My feet were and still are deformed and there is no way I can walk differently just because some fool tells me to. This is just the same as telling Melissa to not dress as the gender she knows she was meant to be.

One other thing, I have to wear special shoes and people assume Iím a lesbian because of them. This makes no more sense then judging Melissa because she wears clothes that fit the gender she KNOWS she was meant to be born to be. I am bisexual, but hey that has nothing to do with my shoes and believe me if I could wear girly shoes I would.

Those people giving Melissa such a hard time are the fools, it wouldn't hurt them to give her some room to be herself. They don't even know what a good friend they're missing out on. But that would include you as you've admitted you don't really know her and haven't even made the effort to do so. Are you afraid that you might be teased too?

One last thing, just because millions of Hate Crimes occur each day, it doesnít justify you blaming the victim and being too self absorbed to even try and get to know her and show others the right way to treat those who are different. Oh one CAN expect someone NOT to say anything, itís called good manners, didnít your and their parents teach you any? Arenít you secure enough in your own manhood to accept others as they are?

You canít expect someone NOT to say anything. Maybe not picking on this individual is the most radical thing to do, but you canít really expect other individuals to accept someone of this nature right away. Hey, do what you want. Itís not my life. Just please donít make a big deal over something that doesnít need to be a giant phenomenon. Hate is all around us. Hate and racism have existed since almost the beginning of time. Sure, we all want it to go away, but donít make everyone feel sorry for you because you are "treated unfairly". Itís not the school boards fault either. Obviously they havenít dealt with this kind of situation before and are dealing with it the best way they can. Like I said before, I have nothing against this person. I just donít see how it is such a big deal, when there are millions of "hate crimes" occurring each day.

this kid is one of my best friends, ive known michael since i was about 13, i knew him as a guy and as a girl. i know he provokes some of the harassment but ive been with him numerous amounts of times when people called him saying there gonna stab him for being gay, people we dont even know driving by screaming fag. he laughs at it but i know it hurts him cuz it hurts me. i wish people would just get over the fact that every one isnt gonna fall into this perfect world and look perfect act perfect smell perfect and be perfect. be who you are and love yourself for it. if michael ever changed himself because of stupid mother f**kers telling him hes wrong with what he is, then theres no hope. for any one. i would consider myself a perfectly normal girl. long hair, wear make up, dress nice, look pretty, fall in love, get my heart broken, michael is nooooo f**king different. every one get the F**K over themselves because none of you are perfect. NOT ONE PERSON.

YOU seem to have a lot of hatred for a lifestyle that you have nothing to do with. What are you so afraid of? Let people live thier life in peace, and you live the way you want to. No one is trying to give you a sex change, so why get so angry?
I think Sean hannity actually had the sex change and is disgrunted cause he/she couldnt pass. I mean why does he care so much about this, its not like all of america is posting here, but yet Sean has been here for months now.

I think their should be a communist style reeducation camp for left wing liberal nuts like you. Maybe we can import some Chinese communist style reeducation camps and put all the liberals, left wing radicals in that camp.

hey sean can i ask you how you got here in this forum? were you curious and searched the topic or were you simply coming here with malicious intent to start something? Pushing your ways upon us? as you said that melissa was doing to everyone around her. If she wants to be viewed as a female then let her who are you to say what she cant and cant do, are you god? do you take his power into your own hands and pass judgement onto all that do not fit your description of normal? that would be a sad world my uneducated friend. what would you do if a member of your family came out and wanted to take melissa's route in life and become a female or male? what would you do then? disown them? if so you are definitely scared you do not want the world to turn out where you dont know who is male or female born. You afraid you might like them? besides butting into this forum what pressure or impact are you facing from a transgendered person? Is it your fear and hatred for them? Have you experienced one and you were angry they did not tell you? as with anyone there are bad apples out there dont base your judgment on that. and please keep your negative opinions to yourself.

I'm sure that "Sean" or Clyde or whateve also feels that a women "deserves it" when she gets raped, because of where she is, or who she is with, or what she is wearing. How dare she blame that guy for "giving her what she really wanted," and calling him a rapist. She brought it on herself, right?

Trannies deal with that same BS. If they would just fit in and do as they are told, everything would be just peachy keen doncha know?

That's basically what the trannies like to do, Blame someone for something they did and caused. They keep blaming someone else for who they are and what they are. They blame others all because what they do, how they act and what they are.
They would rather blame someone else then admit that they are the reason why they cause so many people to hate them and don't want to deal with them. The way they act, society doesn't want to doesn't want to deal with them. The way they demand so much, society wants to throw them out or throw them to the wolf's.
They are basically scapegoating others for their own deeds and actions. They lied and mislead people so much, that they are blaming others because they are not sympathetic to their lying and delusional lifestyle.
This is why society does not want to deal with you trannies. They would rather make you disappear and never to be seen in society.
Also, Stop scapegoating others and stop blaming others because they don't like you and are not tolerant of you. Stop blaming others because they don't like you. No one likes you and no one wants to deal with you nut cases. Stop shaming others because the more people you shame them, the more their gona hate your @ss and not want to deal with you delusional people.
Oh and BTW, I can see through your shame tactic and I have already exposed your tactic of shaming people of their bigotry. Your shaming of me don't work and it's useless and pointless because people will see it for what it is, a pointless way to make people feel more hatred towards you trannie nuts.

You know what Sean.. I think ..

You're right .(hear me out)

We can go back to the days when there was no debates no wadge increases.

Women were animals
blacks were slaves
trans people were usually dead.
gays controlled your pay.
people could shoot you because you stepped on their land, and if you wanted help you'ld have to bed down the Animal in your bedroom (if you were though enough to fight Bubba for her; not to mention have a house.)

So you know. it'd just be easier to shoot you versus listen to your bigotry.

common everyone lets just go shoot him...

Oh.. wait. we're 2032years past the first of those rights started by those fools the free MEN!

Oh btw . hope you like Catholic church! cause you're not allowed not to go without being an "IT" yourself.

Its really very simple. This sean character is most likely not even concerned with the actual topic. More likely just looking to ammuse himself by causing a "verbal scene" under the protection anonymity. Sort of like when people just like to hear themselves talk.
