When I lived in Balt. I think a fraternity at Coppin State faced losing it's charter because it discriminated against gays.

These Frats need to understand they have to obey the rules the University has.

And for a group of blacks to behave this way is so offensive to me it makes me sick.

These "men" KNOW first hand what discrimination feels like yet they have no problem practicing it?

Stewart said he wanted to join Kappa Alpha Psi because his pastor and mentor was a member of the frat when he was in college. To me that says a great deal about his pastor.

Seriously, you're going for the stereotype from Revenge of the Nerds?

You're as big a jackass as the guys who wouldn't admit Mr. Stewart!

I owned my own house in Patchogue for 25 years. When those movies were made, I lived in Patchogue just a few doors down from Andrew Cassese, one of the stars of those films who played the nerd "Harold Wormser".

And they were CUTE films. I found Larry B. Scott as Lamar Latrell to be amusing and funny, rather than offensive. They were cute comedies.

Hey "Revenge of the Nerds" is one of my favorite movies.

It really spoke to many people who weren't part of the "in crowd". My groups of friends in HS realized something in our junior year. We had "the goods", "the hoods" "the jocks" and the popular girls" "the brainers" and "the stoners" and the "in betweens", and we realized that the "in betweens" outnumbered all the other groups combined!

You're lucky. At Commack South it was 90% Italian. So we had "The Wise Guys" and "The Victims".:((I'm German\Irish so you know which group I was in).

Actually, the Greek Societies are both independent and off-campus, receiving no college or public funding, so they don't.

Yet I have seen stories where Universities have revoked their allowing such fraternities to be part of the University.

I can't recall the exact terminology but I do know of frats and sororities that lost their ability to continue at such Universities.

The Hazing issue got a lot of frats kicked out and lost their charters.

Going to Commack South was the worst time in my life. I can't remember ANYTHING good from that high school.

Why is it that nearly every time Fa-la-la-Foxy posts on one of these stories, s/he takes the conversation totally off topic and keeps it there? We then have to scroll through potentially dozens of posts, skimming each one, to see if we can find one that actually addresses the story. This is so annoying.

No surprise there.

You applaud groups that refuse to follow rules then whine when those same groups screw you.

You bitch when ever a Liberal or a banker doesn't follow the rules. Yet you applaud this dishonesty.

Barring from the campus is one thing. It means that they can't recruit during Student Activity days. The biggest thing a Campus can do is refuse to take that Frat's money.

The Charter revocations are from within the Greek Societies themselves, and it's the chapters that lose them.

We know his complete resume, his school records, his likes and dislikes, even his freaking ADDRESS, he's two or three times included an entire video of his house, including address. The topic could be on anything from bullying to the history of tea pots and he cannot help but make it all about him him him. Usually his topic is not even CLOSE to what is being discussed, so it is not for examples or anything, just his obsessive need to chitty chat. I never saw such an attention whore in my life.

Why? Are they a load of pathological liars like you are?

How many false names are you going to use today, little cowardly liar? Do you change outfits and put on disguises when you use a different name, to comment on your earlier posts, little liar?

But don't frats in general demographic institutions (this school is primarily African-American so may not follow suit) regularly consist of all whites, all Christians or all Jews? Where is the outrage about these?(No one dares say anything - frat members tend to be extroverts more than dorm residents and extroverts in the future tend to be more likely to become rich executives - especially when they have an old boy network like frat brothers. Rich executives give more money to alma maters.)

Most of these organizations of all stripes need to have their residences burnt down so that the institutions whose land they sit near or on can use their sites for other purposes. Fraternities are nothing but a means of preserving privilege!

But they have to affiliate with a college; each chapter is aligned with a particular school and they MUST conform to that school`s codes and policies, as well as its own guidelines.

Did you pledge?

Those rules were emplaced during segregationist days and aren't much enforced..
