Wasn't off topic at all. He quoted that famous communist, Henry Wallace.

Henry Wallace was a communist and a buddy of Uncle Joe Stalin which was the reason he was dropped from the ticket, and Truman took his place.
Your personal attack fails to refute the information presented.

And he was not a communist.

Yes, he was !

"Wallace was endorsed by the Communist Party (USA), and his subsequent refusal to publicly disavow any Communist support cost him the backing of many anti-Communist liberals and socialists, such as Norman Thomas. Christopher Andrew, a University of Cambridge historian working with evidence in the famed Mitrokhin Archive, has stated publicly that he believed Wallace was a confirmed KGB agent."

Read the secret KGB files, published in a book called "The Mitrokhin Archive" I've read the book. He was CLEARLY a communist, and a KGB agent, and that's why he was dropped form the ticket and Truman was picked to replace him.

I don't remember reading an entry about him, but I gave my copy away so I can't check (pun intended) it. The wiki article doesn't mention it.

THAT QUOTE is from te wiki article which I gave teh link for. Furthermore even teh most casual look at any source outside teh web acknowledges that he was a communist. Why do you think FDR dropped him from the ticket and substituted a fierce anti-communist like Truman instead ?

1. Wiki is NOT a source most teachers accept as real.

2. The word is THE, not "te" or "teh".

I know about the word "the". For reasons I cannot explain, I find it very difficult to type the word "the" correctly, and anytime you see that I have typed it correctly, it is only because I have gone back and corrected it before making a post. If my inexplicable inability to type the word "the" correctly on a consistent basis is one of my biggest faults, then I am indeed a lucky man.

I found it.

Truman garnered FDR the Southern bigot vote, which already hated Wallace for his pluralist views. Wallace cost FDR votes among the Dixiecrats, and among industrialists who hated Wallaces views that they should treat their employees fairly. lol

That's what I viewed him as. A pluralist with more ideological vision than political sense.

Remember, I was there. I didn't vote for him, but I also never bought into the industialists' Red Scare either. Because of my beliefs in justice and fellowship, I was very much a unionist. I was far more concerned that the comintern was making inroads into the unionizable population by acting the way christian should have been, on the one hand; and the inroads of the mob on the other. I was a strong supporter of the work of Dorothy Day and Ekaterina Kolyschkine Baroness de Hueck. I never became active because I knew, and was counseled, that I could be of far more use to the world by finishing my education. I like to think that it was a correct decision.

If he was, as you claim, "communist", then some communists aren't all bad. I've known a few that certainly weren't, and none of them seemed to want to hand America over to the bolsheviks or Staliniks.

I didn't find the ideals expressed in the quote to be either irrelevant or particularly "communist".

So? Lots of people say lots of irrelevant things here all day long.

What forced you onto your odd tangent then? Does that person have power over you or something? At least TRY to stay on topic.

No need to fret, when a horn is stuck or a dog keeps barking, one usually wishes to stop the terrible noise. Often I see off the wall posts on here and they just make me want to scream STOP! I don't mind an occasional off topic rant, but when it is someone's EXCLUSIVE style, to go off on pedantic snore fests, it gets too tedious. NOT to mention certain blabber mouths by name, however, but it USED to be FaFoxy.

And again, he was not a communist:

"In 1950, when North Korea invaded South Korea, Wallace broke with the Progressives and backed the U.S.-led war effort in the Korean War.[5] In 1952, Wallace published Where I Was Wrong, in which he explained that his seemingly-trusting stance toward the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin stemmed from inadequate information about Stalin's crimes and that he, too, now considered himself an anti-Communist. He wrote various letters to "people who he thought had traduced (maligned) him" and advocated the re-election of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956.[5]"
