Do they also refuse to allow the words "racism" or "misogyny" or "sexism"?

The justification given in the article for rejecting the word "homophobia" comes across as based on irrational feelings rather than logic and reason.

About time. It is a stupid, meaningless term. It is applied to people who are not afraid of gays nor are they repulsed by them. They simply do not agree that the definition of marriage should be changed to placate them and make them feel better about themselves.

The AP must be writing in another language. No reference to any medical condition is made in any of these definitions. Just because -phobia is used as a suffix that describes other psychological ailments does not mean the same has to be true for the word homophobia.

Homophobia is about irrational aversion towards LGBT people. Sorry, but I have yet to come across an anti-gay person who has anything close to a rational justification for their aversion.

Speaking of stupid and meaningless, Snickers/Pam, your presence here is a prime example. You've proven yourself incapable of learning no matter how many times something is explained to you.

Yet you continue to hang out in the gay/lesbian section for no apparent reason other than to be mean. Since no one except a couple other trolls likes you here, isn't it "about time" you find somewhere else to strut your ignorance?

No pain here, buddy boy. I have no aversion. Truthfully, I feel sorry for gays. Your plight in life is not enviable. I'm not talking about how you don't have what you want. I'm talking about the condition of being gay. I also abhor the con game you are all running on the American public, "gay marriage" being the main feather in your cap some of you desire to legitimize yourselves at the expense of everyone else. Homophobia is fear or revulsion. What I feel is, frankly, a great deal of sadness about the damage you have all done yourselves and are now doing to America.

And we have Exhibit B. As you can see, ladies and gentlemen, there is an utter lack of rationality behind the dislike expressed towards LGBT people.
