STUDY: Homophobes Terrified You'll Make a Pass at Them

The reason behind prejudices such as racism and homophobia have been contributed to a wide range of factors, but a new study suggests that the root of sexual prejudice is directly related to the fear some people have of unwanted sexual advances by someone of the same gender, reports the Huffington Post .

I'm guessing the response "No thanks" has gone out of style.

Along with "I'm flattered but no", "I'm not intertested", and just plain "no".

I have worked in the arts most of my life and have been hit on by gay men countless times. A simple "I'm flattered you would find me attractive but I'm not gay" usually resolved an uncomfortable situation.

<quoted text>I don't really get it, to be honest. Just because a gay person might find you interesting does not mean that you must have some latent homosexual vibe within you. LOL It's loopy.

But, then again, those that are the most homophobic I think DO tend to have a little bit in 'em, if you know what I mean - so perhaps there's something to that. They react strongly because they're afraid to face that part of themselves.
I agree I think most of the homophobic guys are the ones that have gay tendencies and try to keep them to theirselves. They are literally afraid that they are gay and what people might think of them.

It not so much that closet case phobes are afraid to get hit on, it's the desire they feel to want it to happen that terrifies them. Look at ole Pepper that posts under hundreds of other usernames on a daily basis. He's living proof!
You may notice that MOST of his posts are being deleted by Topix. Keep sending abuse reports to Topix. And it is probably a good idea not to reply to Pepper as it encourages him. No one has to explain themselves or defend themselves against a homophobic coward like Pepper and his 500 aliases.

I agree with your agreement. There is ample evidence that those who are vocally anti-gay are that way because they are trying to convince themselves and others that they do not have these gay desires. They hate their gay desires because of biblical teachings and moron's saying it is the word of God that gays be put to death.

All homophobia has its roots in the Bible. There is no other source. Since we have all grown up around Christians we all have Christian baggage we carry around, even the arch-Atheist has Christian baggage which raises its ugly head every now and then.

Way back in 8th grade my gay cousin had a friend and they had sex together all the time. In the 9th grade my cousin informed his friend that what they were doing was called gay. He insisted it was not, my cousin insisted it was. His friend told him he was insane and he never had anything to do with my cousin any more except to call him names when ever he bumped into him in public. He didn't mind doing the gay sex, his objection was that it was gay. Now he continues his public display of homophobia. My cousin regrets not having kept his mouth shut and insisting that he knew something. My cousin expected his friend to tell him how smart he was instead of rejecting him forever.

Exactly. I've been hit on by women (ewww...just kidding...sort of) and I don't go beating on her. Rather, I go screaming into the night, yelling "Cooties, cooties" ... a perfectly measured response.
Actually, I just lean over and quietly say to her that I'm gay. That usually settles it. I have gotten the "what a waste" (no, not really) or "are you sure" (yes, quite) responses, but never did any violence ensue.
I guess "straight" men are just more brutish. It definitely sounds like a psychological problem with them. Maybe someone should start an "Ex-Thug" movement to help these poor boys out.
How would you know anything about “straight men” also it’s not the “straight” that have psychological problems it’s the twisted that have the problems.

I'm always dismayed to see the lengths some folks will go to just to justify their own hate, fear and prejudices.

We do not want you to exists much less be treated as something "normal" any more than we want a pedophile to be seen as normal. It sends bad messages to kids it sends bad messages to humanity that you are anything other than limp wristed freakish perverts.
Nope, the majority of people have no problem with gays & lesbians. The remaining anti-gays are dying off rather quickly now.

<quoted text>There is way too much flattery from gays period. Note this unscientific study is from gays and thus a lie.
Studies show that homophobia is a fear of being trapped in homosexuality, and being denied treatment to change and that leads to suicide.
So, you are saying that only ugly straights are homophobic and also that you all do not make unwanted sexual advances against straight handsome males and females. That is a lie.
Most gays that commit suicide due to relationship issues, do so, because you can not handle platonic friendships and have this can't live without mentality and thus become stalkers.
Now, go peddle your lies elsewhere. I have too many gay friends and straights who have had this done to them.
Homophobia is part of ego-dystonic homosexuality and thus all gays are homophobic.
From the article:

" ... The new study was conducted by psychologists Angela G. Pirlott and Steven L. Neuberg and appears in the journal 'Social Psychological and Personality Science'..."

You can drop the neo-Freudian BS. Freudianism is NOT a science, but an almost entirely self-referential philosophy that never empirically tests it's thought system.
