There may be no clearer reflection of this moment in American religious life than the tensions surrounding prayers at President Barack Obama's inauguration.

We don't like christian mullahs with sex problems.

Other people of faith are fine, or at least as okay as the rest of the population.

You've said nothing that needs to be refuted. Your hyperemotional ranting has nothing to do with reality.

Public institutions which are either governmental or quasi-governmental in natures should be secular.
Religion is a bastion of discrimination, falsehood and lies. You have only to look to history to see that statement is absolutely true.
Religion - all religion - has done far more harm to the world than it has ever done good.
There are religious organizations that do good in the world but they are the exception not the rule and most, if not all of them, come with the string of preaching their version of reality.
Religion is not altruistic - if it were it would carry more weight and it's argument would be more cogent.
Religion dictates - it is the enemy of freedom.
Religion is used to justify atrocities - it is the enemy of peace.
Religion divides - it is the enemy of harmony.
Yes you guessed it - I'm a secular humanist.
I'm a non-secular humanist.

I still want religion out of Government.

Let me be sure I understand this correctly. You're saying that those of us who are fighting for legal recognition of same-sex couples' relationships, for the same legal protections that are currently in place for children raised in heterosexual families to be extended to cover children raised by LGBT parents, are anti-family.
How is that?
Why should couples who are committed to each other in loving relationships, who have financially combined their lives, not families just because they happen to be of the same gender? Why are same-sex couples who are raising kids not families, and why do their children not deserve the same legal protections?
I'm asking as a gay person who is in a long term monogamous relationship with my same-sex partner. We've been together for 25 years now. We have two kids who we are raising. Why do we not count as a family?
Same-sex couples, and LGBT families with kids, are not a new thing. We've always been around regardless whether the mainstream society knew we were here or not.
And please provide any shred of proof that any heterosexual couple or family has lost anything as a result of legal same-sex marriage. If legal same-sex marriage somehow damages heterosexual marriage there is surely some proof of that.
It should be easy for you to get your proof since there are places like Canada where same-sex marriage has been legal for years.(Good luck with that!)
Your arguments are empty and without any merit.
Why can't they be in committed civil unions instead of making it what Americans don't want? If they have the same rights, but don't call it marriage what is the difference? BTW, the proof of how it destroys the heterosexual marriage is in all the gay attacks against all Christians who say they don't - you should check out all the hate-filled venom. It is easy just read some of the activist's words. I can find plenty of that. Do you want me to find some? I'll be glad to help you out.

Why don't you ask black Americans to sit on the back of the bus? It's called EQUALITY; civil unions are not the same as marriage recognition and we will NOT settle for less. And have you noticed that gay marriage passed in the last 3 elections?(Never mind that we didn't get to vote on YOUR civil rights!) And as for the attacks on Christians, you're a little mixed up. The attacks were on christians, not Christians. christians are Christian wanna be's, but can't get into the spirit of Christ. They are too caught up in the minutiae of The Book that they don't get the message.

And if you really want "to help", check out the facts and accept that equality is a good thing, but please don't accept misproven beliefs (like it's a choice) to continue bigotry.

Tried to help out, but you refused the help. As long as you are attacking people IMO you will not get what you want and your whine how it affects heterosexual marriages will fall on hollow ears as you show the hate that it does.

We ARE americans and we WANT this.

What would be the purpose of creating an entirely new legal institution that is a perfect replica of what already exists? Since polls show that just over half of the population supports SSM, you're just epressing your own opinion. Civil marriage is not owned by heterosexuals.

Our responses to the vile things you people have said does not affect marriage at all.

We ARE getting what we want; SSM is being granted in more states as time goes by. The SCOTUS will be deciding two major cases this summer. And polls are showing increasing acceptance.
