A positive move by the Parliament. It helps to know the government doesn't support prejudice and reacted by demonstrating their acceptance of their LGBT members.

(FTA): "Walesa's son said he was shocked by his father's words, which "should not have been said."

"Gays, lesbians, the homosexuals, have the right to have a representation and should be" in Parliament, said Jaroslaw Walesa, who is a European Parliament lawmaker."

Also good to know the father's prejudice wasn't passed on to his son. Perhaps the dad can still overcome his.

Yes. A very old saying.

Today in the U.S. we regard our past history of slavery, and present-day slavery in some places, as a particularly heinous and vile practice.

Yet at the same time, we lionize, and nearly worship, President George Washington, and President Thomas Jefferson. Oftentimes, the fact that both men were slaveholders their entire lives is dismmised as simply a "product of their times". Yet there were many prominent men, in the same time, place, and culture, notably John Adams, who would go on to be President, who were deeply committed to the anti-slavery cause and viewed slavery, justifibly, as EVIL.

Were President George Washington and President GREAT men ? Obviously, YES. Were they all good ? Obviously NO.

President John Adams can be called a GREAT man for recognizing slavery for the EVIL that it is. He also signed into law the four bills known as the Alien And Sedition Acts, which were obviously violations of the Bill Of Rights' First Amendment.

Wase President John Adams a GREAT man ? Obviously, YES. Was he all good ? Obviously NO.

No man is all good.

Hopefully, as we all get older, each of us becomes a little bit smarter, a little bit wiser, and a little bit better as a person.

And hopefully, collectively, as time goes on, humanity as a whole becomes a little bit smarter, a little bit wiser, and a little bit better.

But I put the odds of either of those things happening at no better than 50-50.

The Old and the New Testaments are in one accord that homosexuality is viewed as a moral
perversion by the most holy God. It goes against His plan for heterosexual relations within the
bounds of marriage and family. No amount of rationalizing is going to change that clear
biblical truth. And the sooner the church accepts this, the better – for themselves, for their
society, and for their nation. God expects His people to repent of their sins, and be holy as He
is holy (1 Pet. 1:16). If they don’t repent, then expect the same ultimate fate as the Canaanites
received – physical destruction.

Five Reasons why our Spiritual Service to God is Reasonable
1. Our spiritual service is reasonable because of what God has already mercifully done
for us when we were sinners under His wrath and incapable of saving ourselves.
God intervened in our insoluble dilemma to save us by the work of Jesus Christ who died
for us, and then by the inner work of the Holy Spirit by which we believe upon Jesus for
the forgiveness of all our sins; and the free gift of eternal life; and the power to walk holy
before God during the remainder of our earthly life.

Ephesians 2:4-7
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by
grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ
Jesus,
7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in
kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
If God has made us alive in Christ, what can be more logical than to serve God
wholeheartedly?
2. Our spiritual service is reasonable because of the saving work that God continues to
do on our behalf.
Our salvation is not just a past event. It is also a present experience because God
continues to work in those He saves in Christ.

Spiritual Warfare
(8 – Our Reasonable Service)
www.hotchurch.co.za Page 4 Leslie Crickmay
God’s Spirit intercedes for us: Romans 8:26-27 In the same way the Spirit also helps
our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself
intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts
knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to
the will of God.
Jesus also intercedes for us from heaven at the right hand of God (Rom. 8:34)
.
And it is Jesus - who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the
body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to
Himself.(Philippians 3:21)
It is absurd and futile for us to fight God’s purposes in our salvation. The only reasonable
thing to do is to offer our entire self to God.

3. Our spiritual service is reasonable because our service to God is His will for us, and
His is a good, pleasing and perfect will (Rom. 12:2)
.
God does not reveal to us every aspect of His specific will for our lives. But very
important general aspects of His will are made clear to us.
For example God wants us to be like Jesus who is the head of every man (1 Cor. 11:3)
and the Captain of the host of the Lord (Joshua 5:15). Romans 8:29 tells us that believers
are predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He [Jesus] would be
the firstborn among many brethren;
God’s will is good, and far better for us than our fleshly will. So it is entirely reasonable
to find and comply with God’s general will for our life. And also for His specific will
when He occasionally reveals it. We are created to surrender voluntarily and entirely
to God’s known will in our lives. It is good for us.
4. Our spiritual service is reasonable because God is worthy of our best efforts to please
& glorify Him.
“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You
created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”(Rev. 4:11)
And again - Revelation 5:12 ---“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power
and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.” This is the
testimony of the elders, the four living creatures, the angels and the entire company of the
redeemed. Do we really agree with them? Or do we do lip service only?
If we live for Jesus now giving God all we can ever hope to be we are testifying that God
is truly a great God and he is worthy of the best we can offer Him.
5. And finally, our spiritual service is reasonable because only spiritual things will last.
Everything non-spiritual will eventually pass away. 1 John 2:17 - The world is passing
away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

indeed our only reasonable response to God. Are you going to continue fighting these
truths? Or will you commit / recommit to giving your self to God today?

SOME FINAL THOUGHTS
We have been opening up the idea of our freewill spiritual service of worship to God
which is entirely logical when we consider God’s mercies towards us.
It is only reasonable that we should transform our minds to reject the ways of the world
and to adopt God’s ways as we find them in the word of God.
This worshipful service to God is a conscious, intelligent and consecrated devotion by us.
We must overcome our irrational fear of giving ourselves to God.
We should not offer our time, works or ‘things’ to God as substitutes for ourselves.
We are the greatest gift we can offer God.
There are five entirely logical reasons why our service to God is reasonable:
1. Because of what God did for us when we were unbelievers
2. Because of what God is doing for us now that we are believers
3. Because our service to God is His will for us
4. Because God is worthy of our best efforts to please and glorify Him
5. Because only the spiritual aspects of our life will last.
As we have stated before, this series on Spiritual Warfare is not an academic exercise.
We are attempting to equip ourselves with the spiritual truths that will enable each of us
to “Wake Up!” and be an effective soldier in God’s army as we fight daily against the
kingdom of darkness. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual
forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.(Eph. 6:12).
Let us therefore grow in our appreciation of God’s mercies upon our lives. And let us
transform our thinking and our values so that we grow in holiness and set our sights upon
obeying, serving and glorifying our military Commander-in-Chief.
Let us be ready for when our Lord and Savior soon returns for His bride. Let us give our
self to Jesus now. It is our only Reasonable Service to God.

Discerning the Contagion of Evil
(Part 2- Homosexuality)

1 Introduction
This is the second sermon dealing with the need for true believers within the visible church to
Discern the Contagion of Evil that is permeating people, families, society and nations in this
evil age (Gal. 1:4). These sermons are a call to the body of Christ:(i) to take our rules of
moral conduct from plain Scripture properly interpreted – not from the world; and (ii) to
contend earnestly for God’s absolute moral truths however unpopular it may be within apostate
churches and a world system that is devoid of the truth and wisdom of God.
Lamentably, we see more and more people, especially from the new generation of professing
believers, calling evil good and good evil.1 These people fearlessly supplant God’s absolute
truth and wisdom, with their own vain and foolish evil thoughts which often derive from the
world system that Satan governs and leads. For example: consider openly “gay” Episcopal
Bishop Gene Robinson’s infamous comment that Jesus Christ was a homosexual!
Unfortunately, more and more professing believers in the traditionally Christian western world
are buying into the carefully crafted messages of evil that are being relentlessly marketed to
them through the public education system, the entertainment industry, through universities,
books, advertising and TV,- and worse, from many pulpits.
Last week we discussed the evils of abortion. Today we will consider the evils of male and
female homosexuality, primarily from a biblical perspective. God loves the sinner, but hates
the sin – and so should we followers of Christ. Our aim is not to condemn and reject those
who have engaged in homosexuality. Nor to imply a holier-than-thou pride on our part. Our
intent it to help true believers to be sure of God’s mind in these matters; and thereby, to better
discern today’s contagion of evil and contend against it.
Our main sermon focus today is the moral issue of homosexuality, not the difficult issues faced
by the homosexuals themselves. That is an entirely different sermon for another day.
Today we will critique the increasingly popular position that homosexuality is OK with God.
Supposedly for such reasons as –(i) God is love; or (ii) God “made” the homosexual what he
or she “naturally” is; or (iii) what two consenting people do in private cannot be morally
wrong if they don’t hurt anyone else; or (iv) morals have changed since biblical times; or
(v) the bible actually supports homosexuality; and so on.
All the pro-homosexual points can be reasonably answered whether they are of a moral, social
or civil nature. But today our focus is upon Scripture. This is by far the most important issue.
We need to establish God’s position on this matter, since that should always be our prime
standard for every issue of a believer’s life, especially morals.
So let us now consider what Scripture plainly teaches on this matter.
2 Old Testament Witness
Heterosexuality blessed: God created male and female, blessed them, and then commanded
them to have children and multiply (Gen. 1:27-28). Fortunately, early man and woman was
not homosexual, and obeyed God, otherwise all mankind would have died out thousands of
years ago!

Discerning the Contagion of Evil
(Part 2- Homosexuality)

Heterosexual marriage ordained: Then God ordained heterosexual [not homosexual]
relationships within the bonds of marriage and family (Gen. 2:23-24).
Homosexuality condemned: Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned by God for their gross
immorality and perversion (Jude 7). Gen. 19:4-5 illustrates the extent of the sin of
homosexuality in Sodom. We derive the words sodomy and sodomite from Sodom.2
Homosexuality condemned in Mosaic Law: You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a
female; it is an abomination (Lev. 18:22). See also (20:13).
Homosexual temple priesthood condemned: None of the daughters of Israel shall be a cult
prostitute, nor shall any of the sons of Israel be a cult prostitute.(Deut. 23:17-18)
Homosexuality was judged in Canaan and other sexually immoral nations that God cast out
before the Jews (Lev. 18:24-30). This pattern will re-surface on earth before all the immoral
nations are cast out at Christ’s second coming with His saints.
God views homosexual sin very seriously this is determined by the strong language used
(e.g. detestable, perverse, defile, vomited) and the fact that capital punishment was attached to
homosexual sin in the Mosaic Law. God had this same serious view with both the Jews and
Gentile nations.
The overall witness of the Old Testament is clear. Homosexuality is detestable before the
infinitely Holy God of the Bible.
3 New Testament Witness
Scripture provides us with a progressive revelation of truth from Genesis through Revelation.
The new is in the old concealed – the old is in the new revealed.
What does the NT say about homosexuality? Did God change His mind about this detestable
and perverse sexual practice which the OT scriptures patently condemned? Of course not.
Romans condemns homosexual sin:(Rom. 1:24-32) Law of Christ – not Moses
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies
would be dishonored among them.
• God says that loving sex within true marriage is pure. Sex outside marriage is impure.
• Today, we see our society and churches supressing [stifling/denying] God’s truth in
unrighteousness (v18) and embracing every form of sexual licence: such as homosexuality,
fornication, adultery, wife-swapping, pornography, etc. God is abandoning [lifting His hand
of protection] the people, churches and nations, and giving them over to the power of sin in
their lives. And as man’s sexual degradation increases, so God’s wrath is revealed through it
(v18).
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather
than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Creator. It is a decision they will live to greatly regret unless they repent from their deluded
and sinful ways, and turn towards Yahweh through His Son Jesus Christ.
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the
natural function for that which is unnatural,
• The women are engaging in unnatural lesbian acts. They don’t want God and His eternal
moral truths, so God gives them what they want. God gives them over to their vile passions.
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned
in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in

• According to God homosexuality is not a natural function.3 Some of the leading prohomosexual
activists acknowledge this truth in private, while denying it in public.
• God says homosexual acts are indecent [shameful] acts carrying the seeds of punishment.
God doesn’t bless homosexuality – He curses it, because it is sin and rebellion against Him.
• penalty Some USA “penalty” statistics4 [2-4% men in USA are considered homosexual]
o 0.3% of heterosexual men have AIDS. As opposed to 9% of homosexual men.
o USA homosexuals account for
 17% of gonorrhea cases; 85% of syphilis cases in some regions;
42% of new HIV infections; 55% of AIDS cases
o USA homosexuals are:
Five times more likely to be infected with an incurable sexually transmitted

One in three have an incurable STD

o They are a significantly higher risk for
 eating disorders; anxiety; psychiatric disorders
 substance abuse; depression; suicide
death by anal, prostrate, testicular or colon cancer
premature death by 8 to 20 years
The fact that government and the media ignore this type of medical data is a disgrace.
They want to perpetuate their propaganda image of the good, clean, smart, hardworking,

• When practicing homosexuals fail to acknowledge the warnings their God-given consciences
provide to them, God will give them over to a depraved [worthless] mind resulting in a
pattern of ongoing evil.
29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife,
deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful,
inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving,
unmerciful;
• This wickedness, evil and malice is very evident in those homosexual organizations and
activists who flaunt their gay-pride marches and attack Christianity and Christian institutions
and the biblical family mind-set at every opportunity. We don’t have time to explore this
avenue further today.
32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are
worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice
them.
• The fact that humanistic law allows abortion and homosexuality does not mean that they are
morally right before God. And many people involved in these aspects of evil know the moral
law of God through their consciences. They know they are sinning in defiance of conscience.
The apostle Paul leaves no room in this passage from Romans for vainly imagining from
Scripture that God approves homosexuality. As 1 Cor. 6:13b says: The body is not for
immorality, but for the Lord,---. And again Paul wrote in 1 Cor. 6:9-10a by the Holy Spirit
– Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
not thieves, etc.--- shall inherit the kingdom of God.
It is clear that unrepentant homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. Why not?
Because homosexual acts are sinful, and establishing a society that actively supports this is
evil. The fact that society condones homosexuality and even supports it is a tangible sign of
the wrath of God visiting upon that unrepentant nation. And these spiritual principles of
judgment apply to the church even more than to unbelievers. Heb. 10:30-31 warns - For we
know Him who said,“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again,“The Lord will judge His
people. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
4 Final Conclusions
It is a sad indictment upon the visible church that a growing segment of professing Christians
are becoming ever more tolerant towards homosexuality due to their ignorance or deliberate
rebellion against God’s plain word.
And yet the Bible has not even the slightest hint of ambiguity about what is permitted or
forbidden in this aspect of sexual immorality. Homosexual sin is an abomination to God.
The Old and the New Testaments are in one accord that homosexuality is viewed as a moral
