I thought the program was decent although they showed many more "yes on 8" commercials and fewer no ones. In that respect I felt it was unfair and biased otherwise it was ok.

After you take out the commercials, you only had about 43 minutes to discuss all this. Not nearly enough time and nothing was resolved one way or the other.

The only thing that I did notice that someone might take away from this was the way Maggie Gallagher came across.... very mean and angry.

But, as has been the case from the beginning, they anti crowd cannot offer any logical explanation for banning gay marriage other than "tradition" and religious grounds.... and history has show that both those excuses eventually fail to have any lasting effect.

Spending time watching anything with DR (phd) Phil, and Joe the smo is a felony in 42 states. Or should be.

Joe supporting anyone should convince them to hire a squad of bodygaurds. He is great at stabbing people in the back, Pill(phil) is deserving but I don't like violence.

The show should have been titled, Buddies armed.

Both these people look for the spotlight exclusively.

They should be sent into space, where they could be stars and leave us Pee-ons to get dry.

Dr. Phil's purpose, and in fact the purpose of every daytime chat show is NOT to get to the bottom of anything, or resolve anything, but to ignite the fires of controversy, pander to sensationalism, and get as many viewers glued to their TV's as possible.

The Yes on 8 gang had nothing original to say, and no rational argument, as usual. They did, however, reek of smug hypocrisy and religious self-righteousness. They portrayed themselves as victims, decrying the vandalism and borderline violent opposition from some extreme activists in California, whining about boycotts and demonstraitons against people, companies, and churches who supported Prop 8... And yet, they completely failed to acknowledge that LBGT people, organizations, and our community friends and supporters have endured much worse for over 1800 years.

Maggie Gallagher needs to read a history book. Before the Christianization of the Roman Empire, gay marriage was an accepted part of society in virtually all of the greatest civilizations which ever existed. It was Christianity which "redefined" marriage, and Christianity, despite the nominal good it has done in society, which has been the easily identifiable source of virtually all the bigotry, prejudice, and discrimination which our nation has had to overcome. To now claim that THEY are the victims, and that LGBT activists are the persecutors is hypocrisy of a very high order.

In my never-so-humble opinion, it is sheer arrogance for them to repeat these arguments, which have so roundly been refuted as lies and distortions, without ever questioning or exmining the source or validity of their arguments. If it were just their personal beliefs, I would not object to it. But when they use those spurious arguments as a weapon against others, and when they use them as a smokescreen for their own OBVIOUS prejudices, then I do object; on the simple basis that these flimsy obfuscations are quite objectionable in and of themselves.

With the changes of only a few words, these are exactly the same sorts of arguments which were applied to enslave blacks, to prohibit women's voting rights, to institute segregation, and to disallow interracial marriage.

Maggie claims that "the majority of Americans don't believe this is a civil rights issue."

Dear Ms. Gallagher: The majority of Americans, like yourself, don't have a clue what civil rights are or what they are for. I thought Mayor Newsome was very clear and articulate about that, and I applaud him.

Gallagher angrily objected to her side being labelled as bigots. Well Ms. Gallagher, if the shoe fits, kindly turn it sideways and shove it up your gargantuan backside. You are a tragic example of the horrible consequences of refusing to allow your hair to be styled by a gay guy.

Gloria Allread certainly did not do us any favours. She was borderline rabid at times, which only makes those seeking equal rights as nut cases. It is a shame there was not someone on the No panel from the HRC who could have presented the issue respectfully and kindly. She reeked of aggression, and that attitude only begets more aggression.

I agree with you in principle, but I believe that to place the two sides of this argument on an equal platform (as in this "debate"), is comparable to having a show with Dr. Martin Luther King debating the head of the KKK. Confronted with such outrageous beliefs as those cherished by the "Yes on 8" mob, even Gandhi might have seemed hostile and agresssive.

Not really--you find bathroom humor in roman comedy and in shakespeare. You find confrontations throughout, from bearbaiting to gladiators.

Humans are humans and their entertainment always had its highbrow and lowbrow varieties.

The advantage of having Gloria Allread is that she is not exclusively a gay rights proponent but has represented various people across the spectrum with equal rights battles.
And her known demeanor of being aggressive should not surprise anyone so I do not think she was as much a negative as she was a high profile, yet not unexpected supporter of our fight.

I thought the program sucked. Nothing but "so is your old man" game playing. GAYS are in a quagmire between opposing forces. And picketing a LDS Church dOES nothing to further the cause.
