Want to imprison, disenfranchise, persecute and murder them, too?

You're the one saying it's an illness. This how you want to answer to god for how you treat the "sick"?

Fact is, we're NOT. Our orientation is in no way debilitating ... one of the criterion for "illness".

Dreadfully middle-class sentiments.. What Wilde called: "of more than usual revolting sentimentality ".. and he was married with two children; which did NOT make him (or his wife) happy..

Agressive minorities opress the majority.
Those dimwits have no idea about democracy.

It's alright. I'm terribly sentimental, frequently to the point of maudlin. I do strive for authenticity, but I seems that way down deep I'm pretty shallow.

That's why we have a constitution. When the power of the majority, wrongly oppresses a minority.

Aggressive minorites like priests and oligarchs? I agree.

Raw democracy is just mob rule, and predatory upon the freedoms of individuals. It isn't just.

The purpose of democracy is Justice and fairness. Where democracy fails in this, an independent Judiciary is supposed to provide both restraint of the majority, equity and redress of grievances.

"The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections."

- Lord Acton, "The History of Freedom and Other Essays", Section III: "Sir Erskine May's Democracy in Europe" p. 76

"Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about."

- G. K. Chesterton,“The ethics of Elfland,” Orthodoxy (1908), p. 85

"I am an adherent of the ideal of democracy, although I well know the weaknesses of the democratic form of government. Social equality and economic protection of the individual appeared to me always as the important communal aims of the state. Although I am a typical loner in daily life, my consciousness of belonging to the invisible community of those who strive for truth, beauty, and justice has preserved me from feeling isolated."

- Albert Einstein, in "My Credo", a speech to the German League of Human Rights, Berlin (1932), as published in "Einstein: A Life in Science" (1994) by Michael White and John Gribbin, p. 262.

"Democratic" decision making is a means for finding and implementing the will of the majority; it has no other function. It serves, not to encourage diversity, but to prevent it."

- David Friedman, "The Machinery of Freedom" (1973), p. 88.

"We are now forming a republican government. Real liberty is neither found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments."

- Alexander Hamilton, 1787-06-26

"It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity."

- Alexander Hamilton, speech in New York, urging ratification of the U.S. Constitution (1788-06-21)

"Liberalism is a doctrine about what the law ought to be, democracy a doctrine about the manner of determining the law. Liberalism regards it as desirable that only what the majority accepts should in fact be law, but it does not believe that this is therefore necessarily good law. Its aim, indeed, is to persuade the majority to observe certain principles. It accepts majority rule as a method of deciding, but not as an authority for what the decision ought to be. To the doctrinaire democrat the fact that the majority wants something is sufficient ground for regarding it as good; for him the will of the majority determines not only what is law, but what is good law."

- Friedrich Hayek, The Constitution of Liberty (Chicago: 1960), pp. 103-104.

ALL democracy is a rule of a mob.
You cannot to enforce on the majority values of minorities and to call it democracy.

There`s no perfect justice in this world.
Besides I don`t think this is just to allow gays to adopt children since we don`t know their opinion abut this. No one asks does a kid wants to have 2 fathers instead of a mother and a farther or not. You speak on his behalf but WFT you think you are entitled to do this?

"Tyranny is usually tempered with assassination, and Democracy must be tempered with culture. In the absence of this, it turns into a representation of collective folly."

- John Stuart Mackenzie , in "An Introduction to Social Philosophy‎" (1895), p. 383

"A pure democracy can admit no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or interest will be felt by a majority, and there is nothing to check the inducements to sacrifice the weaker party. Hence it is, that democracies have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."

- James Madison, Federalist Paper #10.

"Men in the mass never brook the destructive discussion of their fundamental beliefs, and that impatience is naturally most evident in those societies in which men in the mass are most influential. Democracy and free speech are not facets of one gem; democracy and free speech are eternal enemies."

- H. L. Mencken, Introduction to "The Antichrist"

"Many of our moral and political policies are designed to preempt what we know to be the worst features of human nature. The checks and balances in a democracy, for instance, were invented in explicit recognition of the fact that human leaders will always be tempted to arrogate power to themselves. Likewise, our sensitivity to racism comes from an awareness that groups of humans, left to their own devices, are apt to discriminate and oppress other groups, often in ugly ways. History also tells us that a desire to enforce dogma and suppress heretics is a recurring human weakness, one that has led to recurring waves of gruesome oppression and violence. A recognition that there is a bit of Torquemada in everyone should make us wary of any attempt to enforce a consensus or demonize those who challenge it."

- Steven Pinker, introduction to "What is Your Dangerous Idea?" (2007) ed. John Brockman, p. xxxi.

"If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about the answers."

- Thomas Pynchon (1973) "Gravity's Rainbow", Viking Press, p. 251.(Considering Hitler's appointment as Chancellor, the Reichstag Fire, and subsequent March elections, democracy may contain the seeds of its own undoing, and this quotation describes how those events did that)

AND MY FAVORITE:

"Pure democracy is not freedom. Pure democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote."

- Marvin Simkin, Los Angeles Times (1992)

Adoption is a separate issue from Freedom of Speech.

Down through history singlesex parenting has been the norm, mostly due to war and disease. Even among the wealthy this is so, but mostly child-rearing was by the Nanny or Governess.

I don`t know why should the Russians listen to those unnown for them Americans.
Russia is not America.
Gay propoganda among children is prohibeted in Russia since the Russians think it`s not good for them.
The opinions of Americans are not the authority in Russia.

There is no democracy in the bourgeois-democratic model (capitalism). The whole capitalist democracy is-fiction, a hoax. The individual parts of democracy are present in the socialist model. But the real democracy is possible only in the communist model. Communist model is a return to the source (primitive communism) but with high-tech and social level. If you remember, in "primitive communism" communities been present real democracy.

We soon gonna ban the freaking gays completely. And we're not going to care what the gay lovers in America think of us, because they are not higher than God and His commandments.

In SU was criminal article for pederasty. Them forcibly treating doctors-psychiatrists. I think that this law is not needed. Just new separate article in the law is enough. Our State Duma sit imbeciles, who play the role of active work.

You "propagate" what can be learned. Gay orientation cannot be learned. Children born gay will be gay no matter what you teach them.

Yes. He commanded "Beat your neighbor as yourself", right?
