Wow. I never heard of any of these no-name wannabes. I think they just do this stuff to get some kind of publicity (obviously publicity that doesn't work too well since I never heard of any of these people) so that maybe they'll get "discovered".

99.9% of celebrities jump on the "gay" bandwagon for publicity. Whether they are gay or not. Nowadays it's the "in" thing to be gay and/or support gays. It's all about PR and being PC. Truly sad and pathetic if you ask me.

99.9% of topix trolls jump on the "I hate gays" bandwagon for attention. Whether they are straight or just pretend to be. It's all about having a secret fetish then feeling bad after having a wank over it. Truly sad and pathetic if you ask me. Or Abner.

How true. This doesn't only apply to celebrities though. I recently "came out" at my job (even though I'm straight) and was immediately promoted and given a large raise.

I've certainly heard of two of these celebrities: one is an Oscar-winning screenwriter, and the other has received multiple awards for his work on stage and in film (and was named OUT Magazine's Entertainer of the Year).

I find it odd that people, especially gay people, who are no doubt familiar with Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and their ilk, bother to claim they've never heard of celebrities like Dustin Lance Black and Cheyenne Jackson. Why boast that you are unfamiliar with prominent gays and lesbians? Isn't it a bit homophobic?

That said, my personal opinion is that sex scandals are tacky and tiresome, regardless of the sexual orientation of the people involved. In this day and age, we should all know by now that nothing recorded ever remains private.

Although I've heard of Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton and a few others that I can't figure out why or how they got celebrity status and why they are in the news or why anybody cares, I've never heard of any of these guys. However, I don't watch "reality" tv, could care less about the Oscars or Emmys, don't watch American Idol or any of that other mindless crap that I don't find entertaining or informative, and don't know the names of any porn stars. Perhaps, the main reason I don't know who these guys are is that I'm not star-struck or shallow, and I don't have time to look up obscure "prominent" people in order to be familiar with every nobody who has had 15 minutes of fame.

Dustin Lance Black won the Best Screenplay Oscar for "Milk", the film biography of Harvey Milk, the San Francisco City Supervisor and gay rights icon who was murdered back in the 1970's.

Cheyenne Jackson played Mark Bingham, the gay passenger who was on board United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, and was instrumental in foiling the hijackers' plans, in the film "United 93". He has over 30 films to his credit, has won awards for his work on Broadway, and has cut several albums.

Congratulations. You now know who they are, and from here on out you may consider yourself irredeemably shallow and star-struck. Feel better? <grin>

If you're responding to the MaMoron: FaFoxy, you are wasting your time. He pretends to above modern culture and claims to be too high and mighty to watch TV, yet can comment on EVERY TV show mentioned with perfect clarity and even can tell boring tales of actors and shows and when they were broadcast in 1970 or so. The Rainman of Topix. I can't tolerate fake snobbery like that. It shows complete self delusion and fake sophistication.

It sure got YOUR attention, didn't it?

However, if someone shakes keys at you, that entertains you also.

I wasn't responding in particular to the person you mentioned. We have a tacit agreement not to interact with one another at all on these boards, and I would never do anything to upset the apple cart.

But your point is nonetheless a good one, and jives nicely with mine. There's a difference between disapproving of popular culture and being willingly ignorant of it. Or pretending to be ignorant on the subject, as if that were somehow a badge of honor.

This is lie from our least favourite but most ubiquitous troll; none other than the Little Liar. Here he is creating another post with another fake name from another fake city. It's a little insulting that he clearly thinks we're stupid enough to fall for this.

I wonder if you could, "Eugene," tell us the names of the .1% of actors who are still claiming to be straight. I'll wait.
