Except they are NOT married. If they married in a state that permits gay marriage, they miight have a case. Bt if you are in teh military, you need permission to marry.

A so-called "civil union" is a legal fiction of no weight. So she DID in fact fraternize in violation of the UCMJ.

This one was completely predictable (to those who are military savvy).

Notice it didn't come out until AFTER the SCotUS hearings?

Sorry folks but as a Navy Veteran there was and is NO VIOLATION of the UCMJ because both are enlisted and DON'T work in the same division......it would be no different than a married heterosexual couple working in the same company, but in different locations.......as long as they are not in a direct working relationship.....the company or in this the Navy should not care!!!

The Navy has made an error and they will pay the consequences for their STUPIDITY!!

Exactly! I know a couple personally who met in the Navy who were enlisted, different ranks, got married and nobody said anything about.

One is a Chief Petty Officer and the other a Petty Officer 1st Class- both are enlisted, neither works in the same part of the base, and both met when they were the same rank.

Even I know that a Petty Officer is not an officer.

NorCal is right, and—surprise, surprise—Foxy is wrong. I also served in the Navy and have a clear understanding of the ranks. Neither is an officer, but both are NCOs (non-commissioned officers), which are enlisted ranks. This is indeed an exercise in blatant stupidity, the worst of its kind.

Not wrong.....a Chief Petty Officer is an E-7, her wife is a 1st Class Petty officer, which is an E-6.......so, both are ENLISTED PERSONNEL......obviously you missed the part about me being a NAVY VETERAN!!!

Exactly.......I guess FaFoxy doesn't comprehend when I stated that I am a Navy Veteran, like you:-)

It's funny that Fafoxy doesn't understand Military ranking, but then....he also insists that he never posted as DanielP from Long Island......lol!!!

As a person who has served with her, this is so sad. Every single day Russel put 110% into anything she did. She always motivated her fellow sailors and always was there for anyone! She proudly served in Afghanistan defending our country! And this is how the Navy repays everything she has done to help keep this country free! If the Navy kicks her out, they will definitely loose a great and wonderful sailor! Fight Russell Fight!!! We support you 100%!!!!!!!

I did when I lived in Virginia Beach for a while back in the late 60's. In fact, I lived off base with a Photographer's Mate. Still have pics of he and I touring the U.S.S. Enterprise.

I was hoping to meet Captain Kirk, but evidently he was on shore leave at the time. And this one had the designated number of CVN-65, not NCC-1701.
