A piddly little $250,000 doesn't buy very much air time these days; so they make up for it by threatening and bullying politicians

Well since they don't really need an GOPasaurs support to pass marriage equality, it's pretty much an empty threat.

Btw, the Illinois chairman of the GOP came out in support of marriage equality yesterday. I'd say that pretty much neutralizes any leverage NOM might have.

I think it's time to target NOM. Let's dig the dirt on 'em. Who has been divorced, who has girlfriends/boyfriends, kids out of wedlock, mixed marriages - anything that doesn't fit their narrowly-defined definition of marriage. I wonder what dust and fleas will fall out when we shake that tacky, threadbare rug that is NOM.

I love it when conservatives stab their own in the back. It won't do much good, though. Democrats already have a supermajority in the general assembly.

I guess Brian and Maggie want to see a super-duper majority in 2015!

While not clear where their money comes from, the bulk was from two donations, and possible from the same person or group. Church?

"it may seem like a lot of folks are supporting the hate group, but just two donors are responsible for 75% of that $6 million; those two donors gave NOM $2.4 million each."

Here you go Luke:

We know how queers get legislation passed and it is not through the will of the people.

Still you have to love the way Maryland,Washington and Maine wrote their laws, it's like giving cookies to the mentally challenged kids to shut them up.This is not what Homosexuals had in mind.
All 3 laws read the same.

Here is the Maryland Law:

Establishes that Maryland's civil marriage laws allow gay and lesbian couples to obtain a civil marriage license, provided they are not otherwise prohibited from marrying; protects clergy from having to perform any particular marriage ceremony in violation of their religious beliefs; affirms that each religious faith has exclusive control over its own theological doctrine regarding who may marry within that faith; and provides that religious organizations and certain related entities are not required to provide goods, services, or benefits to an individual related to the celebration or promotion of marriage in violation of their religious beliefs.

speaking as a homosexual I'm quite happy with it. What is it about the laws that bothers you or affects you in any way?

Ha! Decency, morality, family values. The meaning of these words have been distorted by NOM and the other right-wing fringe groups that want to keep their hetero superiority intact (and their income level high). People like you, for instance. For example, any organization with the word "family" in its name is now immediately associated with regressive, fascist, anti-gay hatred.

What they are fighting for, is to keep their paychecks coming. Nothing more. Don't subscribe high and lofty ideals to Brian Brown's desire to milk his anti-gay cash cow for all that it is worth. Better send him another check, quick!
