As Illinois gears up for a vote over whether or not to legalize same-sex marriages, the National Organization for Marriage says it will target any Republicans who support the legislation.

Judged: 2 2 2 Btw, the Illinois chairman of the GOP came out in support of marriage equality yesterday. I'd say that pretty much neutralizes any leverage NOM might have. |

Talk about a toothless tiger. NOM is still alive? How do they keep the lights on?

Judged: 2 1 1 We know how queers get legislation passed and it is not through the will of the people. Still you have to love the way Maryland,Washington and Maine wrote their laws, it's like giving cookies to the mentally challenged kids to shut them up.This is not what Homosexuals had in mind. All 3 laws read the same. Here is the Maryland Law: 2012 Presidential General Election Question Text Last Updated 11/07/2012 03:06:01 PM Return to Election Result Index NR: not reported Return to State Ballot Question(s) Civil Marriage Protection Act (Ch. 2 of the 2012 Legislative Session) Referendum Petition Question 06 Establishes that Maryland's civil marriage laws allow gay and lesbian couples to obtain a civil marriage license, provided they are not otherwise prohibited from marrying; protects clergy from having to perform any particular marriage ceremony in violation of their religious beliefs; affirms that each religious faith has exclusive control over its own theological doctrine regarding who may marry within that faith; and provides that religious organizations and certain related entities are not required to provide goods, services, or benefits to an individual related to the celebration or promotion of marriage in violation of their religious beliefs. Judged: 5 3 2 Ha! Decency, morality, family values. The meaning of these words have been distorted by NOM and the other right-wing fringe groups that want to keep their hetero superiority intact (and their income level high). People like you, for instance. For example, any organization with the word "family" in its name is now immediately associated with regressive, fascist, anti-gay hatred. What they are fighting for, is to keep their paychecks coming. Nothing more. Don't subscribe high and lofty ideals to Brian Brown's desire to milk his anti-gay cash cow for all that it is worth. Better send him another check, quick! |
