Well, it's about time; this is a very 'sinful' action for a woman to lay with a woman and a man to lay with a man!
If you feel that way then you have the right to not marry someone of the same sex. However your personal rule / right to not marry someone of the same sex ends at the end of your nose.

Exactly. Typical hopeless, evil, Republican time and money waster.
It is nice to see liberals are not intolerant of others. Not at all closed-minded. Just ready to accept each and every one. You know; like they would like to be accepted.

Everyone here is talking like this is an evil republican issue. SInce you bring up Oregon, you should know, if you don't already, that the vast majority of registered voters in Oregon are Democrat. It was this voter base that voted to change the Oregon constitution to OUTLAW gay marriage. Oregon has been run by liberal democrats for over 30 years at almost every level of government.
I won't get into the argument about whether our AG should or should not have supported the law but just want all you republican bashers toi know that it was a LIBERAL voter base that outlawed/banned gay marriage in Oregon and a LIBERAL AG who spent tax payer dollars fighting it in court in front of a gay LIBERAL judge.

A) How long ago did the state of Oregon allow their citizens to vote on the fundamental civil rights of it's citizens? As in Wisconsin, the overall thinking about same sex marriage and gay rights in general have changed in recent years, with majorities now favoring equality.

And more people and courts are believing that civil rights are not something that should ever be voted on, but should just be acknowledged, as the Constitution suggests. Imagine how ridiculously unjust and bigoted our laws would be if every god damned redneck bigot got to vote on other people's rights. That is not how this country is meant to work.

B) While there are many republicans who support same sex marriage, in current times, it is generally republican candidates who are against it and liberal candidates who support it. Unfortunately, candidates often have platforms that are created by party "leaders" rather than what the voters actually want.

Wisconsin has long been a "purple" state. We elected Obama twice, but we also elected Scott Walker for governor, and people like Paul Ryan for Congress, and then Tammy Baldwin too. I think the ban on same sex marriage was a ballot issue here as well, but so was domestic partnerships.

Attitudes shift, and we people are starting to realize that these things should never have been put up for a vote in the first place.

I personally am not here specifically to bash republicans, but they are generally responsible for anything anti-gay these days. Denying that won't score you any points, even if you do support same sex marriage.

If Wisconsin's AG was liberal rather than republican, I highly doubt he would be trying to halt or stall the issuance of marriage licenses to same sex couples.
