In a nation that is continually working to eradicate bigotry and inequality, comments such as those made by Lauderdale County High School Head Football Coach Bob Grisham in the public classroom about LGBT Americans and the First Lady should not be tolerated. A coach's and instructor's influence is key to the shaping of a young person's world views and character- Grisham's comments do not reflect character that will advance our nation's youth. We must send a message to our public employees that we stopped tolerating this type of bigoted speech 50 years ago.

What always strikes me as odd about these cases, is not that there are irrational and loudmouth bigots out there, because they have always been there.

No, what astounds me is that they assume, in this day and age, the no one listening has a phone in their pocket.

That's because a lot of times celfones are banned in a school. Which I think is stupid precisely for the reason you suggest, along with a celfone being a safety device.

And IF I had a child in school, I would insist that my child carry a celfone at ALL times outside teh home, including in school, BECAUSE it is a safety device, teh school rules be damned.

I'm sure because he was a big shot football coach in a small pond, he thought he could say anything. Depending on just how seriously this community takes it's football will be the determining factor if anything is even done! Just wait, the person who recorded the rant will be targeted!

And are you are implying that I post for all gays? Now, I weary of this drool conversation. You don't like gay people. You have made that very clear. The topic was about an educator speaking negatively about the President's wife and making negative remarks about gays. He is allowed to have his opinion, but in his position as a coach and educator, his freedom of speech does not allow him to spew out anything he wishes while performing his job.
