I would like to see "have not" legislation passed. This would mean that if I have something that someone else wants they will get a special punishment.
I fail to see how the alleged motivation for a criminal act affects the seriousness of the crime. There has been at least one case where the victim was a protected class. The muggers were unaware of his status and mugged him anyway. They were falsely convicted of the more, worser crime. In addition it leaves people open for double jeopardy. One for the crime and again for the civil rights issue.
As has been demonstrated for the past 5 yrs it seems to apply only in one direction.
Did the Penn State football coach face hate crime punishment?

I'm glad that this passed.

Everyone should have civil rights in our society and be treated with respect. Irregardless of personal particulars. I just don't like the notion of a special class of people. I guess in an ideal world securing special legislation for a set aside class of people wouldn't be necessary. But, we don't live in an ideal world.

As far as the rest. God will sort it out in his own due time. I have a right to to believe that. Just as one has a right to believe that will not be the case. If one doesn't have a dog in the race?. Then they shouldn't be concerned. But, let everyone have their basic civil rights if it is shown that they have been historically discriminated against.

One rights end when it starts interfering and trampling on the rights of others.

One wants to marry?. Fine. But, ones church or p of worship should not be forced to marry you.

One wants to engage in immoral acts?. Your business. You will have to answer for that. But, one should not be made to see that or see others conducting themselves like that in front of another.

Correction: I'm glad that this passed.

Everyone should have civil rights in our society and be both treated and accorded with the same respect. Irregardless, of personal particulars. I just don't like the notion of a special class of people. I guess in an ideal world securing special legislation for a set aside class of people wouldn't be necessary. But, we don't live in an ideal world.

As far as the rest?.

Fine. But, ones church or place of worship should not be forced to marry you.

One wants to engage in immoral acts?. Your business. You will have to answer for that. But, one should not be made to see that or see others conducting themselves like that in front of another.

I believe that homosexuals should be protected from discrimination based on their sexual preferences, but at the same time I can also understand those who wish to defend the traditional concept of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
