Gay pride, Slovak shame

There are 7 comments on the Slovak Spectator story from May 23, 2010, titled Gay pride, Slovak shame. In it, Slovak Spectator reports that:

As the tear gas filled our eyes at Gay Pride Bratislava on Saturday, causing my two-year-old daughter to shriek with pain and fear, my first thought was - where are the police? How can this be happening? Every country has its bald-headed primitives who need little excuse to put on their boots and go "kick some ass". But it's not often you see a ...

The real Nazis butchered the people of the Czech Republic and Slovakia - and I'm not talking about just the Jews, either - remember Lidice?. These people are a disgrace to their nation. The EU needs to change its laws to allow for the prompt death penalty for neo-Nazi agitation. And enforce it. I am strongly against capital punishment but given Europe's history this should be an exception. Furthermore, all children of executed neo-Nazis who were over 12 at the time of their parents arrest would need to be both sterilized and banned from adopting children so these ideas don't spread.

The one exception I really have to free speech is Naziism in Europe. I don't even feel the same way about Neo Nazis outside Europe, as the historical precedent is different.

Apparently, the Interior Minister of Slovakia was involved with helping the skinheads and fascists disrupt the parade.

Slovakia historically has been pro-fascist. Their national hero was an unrepentent Nazi (literally) who brazenly allied with Hitler. And Conservatives in Slovakia revere this facist today.

Unfortunately Slovakia is a very homophobic country. They are against everybody who is not like the majority - white, heterosexual and christian.
I work for an international company and when it had the Gay pride flag raised my two colleagues were moaning about it saying that they do not want to have someone celebrating homosexuality as if it was normal, homosexuals are not victims of any oppression etc. These people are extremely ignorant and completely unwilling to change. I feel embarassed for being from this country.
