Same-sex proposal needs study
Benefits provided by contractors could have economic impacts. Robert Garcia, the recently elected councilman for Long Beach's 1st District, is proposing that the city of Long Beach limit some of its dealings with contractors to companies that provide the same benefits for straight and same-sex couples.

straighties better start treating us as equals or we will be taking away some business from you to even things out as seen here!

when a police chief says until the toxicology reports are in that he is not ruling out homicide...is NOT the same thing as saying they are investigating it as a homocide.
It has gone further than that! Multiple drugs in his body prescribed by doctors in the commission of said crime, leading to Jackson's death.

Be nice deeter. That would be a policy of reverse discrimination of straights. The firemen in NY won in SCOTUS on the premise of reverse discrimination.

I said that straight businesses can not purposely be excluded from bids to give preference to gay friendly ones.

I know that federal agencies do not allow discrimination based on sexual orientation. I do not believe EEOC law includes that in the private sector!

you are very wrong there.
The entire city of SanFrancisco has had a policy for over ten years now wherein ANY company doing any business with the city MUST provide equal benefits to its gay employees.
and they have worked out just fine there.

and any company that would try to fight it would lose in another city, because they would have to prove that the sole reason they did not get hired was because of gay equality.... a person or city has the right to hire or not hire anyone it feels is best for the job...and if they feel a company that treated all its employees equally would be a better fit..then theres nothing you can do about that. Period.

you can google this information regarding sanfrancisco enforcing this.
Not ONE company has ever been hired to do work in the city that does not provide equal benefits FOR every employee.

Single gays have always had the "same benefits". Government bids must not be based on discriminatory practices.

These guys must attend the same school of avoidance. They NEVER answer directly, and if they do respond it is either biblebabble or cryptic double speak. They have no answers, none that they have not already had pre-digested and cut and pasted for them by the wizard of oz behind the curtain.

Hey deeter, I see you've met our "spooky ol bob" He thinks abortionists make soup out of aborted fetuses and then gobbles it down! LOL, he is quite unbalanced and delusional to say the least! Just ignore the little attention freak! They let him out of his padded cell a couple of hours a day to use the internet, and then it's a heavy dose of thorazine!

What is the lastest on the investigation. I can't find anything about it anymore. It must not have been a hate crime after all.

So, unless it's in the paper every day, even if nothing's happened in the case, you get to pretend it wasn't a hate crime?

Well was it a hate crime or not? Is the investigation finished? Its not even in the so-called gay blogs. I even googled August Provost and nothing current came up. I guess people don't care anymore, or it turned out that it wasn't a hate crime--one of the two.

You're an idiot. When they start letting men & women shower, sleep, etc. together, THEN they can let homosexuals do the same with heterosexuals.
Raychel Roo wrote:
<quoted text>What you're saying is illogical because it's not a situation where one heterosexual is showering with a group of homosexuals. It's the other way around. Homosexuals are less than 10% of the population, perhaps only 2%, therefore they will always be a minority in these situations i.e. outnumbered in the showers. And, being that homosexuals are already in the military, they are already showering with groups of heterosexuals. As they have been in gym locker rooms and dorm showers, etc. from the beginning of time.

Kettle meet pot! Homosexuals ARE already showering with heterosexuals in the military. The kicker: they just don't know it. Also, I had a roommate who was heterosexual... he was unaware, though I'm sure he suspected, of my homosexuality. But from your post it would appear that you actually have no insight into dormitory life... military style. There are plenty of men "sleeping" with women in official housing quarters... it just isn't organized that way. I know that the military does take away a lot of privacy when a person becomes a soldier but there are some things even it cannot control.

Why does nobody talk about how there were apparently either very little, or no problems at all, BEFORE this "gay ban" was instituted ? It was only instituted in the WWII-era.

There was an interesting show on The History Channel a couple of months ago about sex during the Civil War. It was a really god show. It mentioned, but did not dwell on, the fact that some officers and some enlisted personnel, on bot sides of the conflict, patronized male prostitutes. In fact the shown mentioned that for the first time in American history, in Jacksonville I believe it said, that prostitution was legalized.

And both armies suffered problems with battle-readiness because V.D. was so rampant. Hence, the Union Army set up an effective system for quarantining and sucessfully treating, both military personnel and the male and female prostitutes that were infected with various strains of V.D.

I woudl also point out, that General von Steuben, for whom the Steuben Day Parade in New York is named for, was very important and effective leader for George Washington in the Revolutionary War. Congress was so grateful for his efforts in helping win our Independence, that they granted General von Steuben a lifetime pension after the Revolutionary War ended. General von Steuben was openly gay, and lived with one or more boyfriends, amongst the troops, during the war.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
