Gay people have always been around no matter how well accepted or how severely punished.

The reality is, gay people are going to form relationships.

The question then becomes, are we going to accept reality and encourage strong, committed relationships around the shared values of family, fidelity, and responsibility, with the help of friends, family, and the government, or is it in the best interest of society to make laws that attack and demean such relationships, causing unjustified harm to those couples and their children.

Now is the time to accpt reality and treat others as you would yourself under the law.

“Gay marriage would be a victory for the worthy ideas of tolerance and inclusion. It would likely decrease the number of those in society who tend to be viewed warily as ‘other’ and increase the number who are accepted as part of ‘us.’ In that respect, gay marriage would be a victory for, and another key expansion of, the American idea.” Conservative anti-marriage equality director of the Institute for American Values David Blankenhorn, one of the few witnesses who testified in favor of Prop 8. https://ecf.cand.uscourts.gov/cand/09cv2292/f...

The most concerning thing was the drop in support from 63% to 51% after the anti-gay rally, and this story said support in a poll Saturday was 60%. That implies the 51% was a fluke or rigged. Very reassuring. I was afraid if support was that soft in France, it could swing in the US too.

Take a Viagra. It works better for limpness than cruising gay blogs and acting like a stiff one.

I believe many who support equality understand they have nothing to lose either way. Unless they have family and friends who are harmed by discrimination, they are not motivated enough to disrupt their weekend plans to support a law that doesn't directly affect them either way.

Those opposed to treating others as they would themselves, are motivated by fear of the unknown, and the urging and even instructions of their religious leaders. They have been led to believe they will be harmed by equal rights.

And this is the brilliant, thoughtful position of the opposition. This is why, when they get to court and are asked what basis they have for defending their stance, their answer is "I don't know, your honor. I don't know".

Really? You might want to ask the rest of Canada how having a French province is working out for them.

Don't be too disappointed. If we have to return to the streets, we will do better next time. From what I've been reading about Parisian protests, our numbers were quite large. The outsized showing by our opponents is unlikely to be repeated.
