Barry, name one "legit" way equality for LGBTQ affects you negatively. And I don't mean because you think they're icky.

This should be good.

Way to totally sidestep the question. And already have equality?! Let's see the list of rights gay people do not have in West Virginia:

- Marriage to the consenting adult they love (an adult able to consent. Don't even try the pedo or animal argument)
- Partner's health insurance like any married couple
- Ability to make medical decisions for partner, like any married couple
- No recourse for housing/job discrimination

Don't even give me the "you have the right to get married, to a person of the opposite sex." First, rights don't have caveats. And imagine if the tables were turned, and only same-sex couples could get married? See, you'd then have the right to get married... to a person of the same sex.

It's a common misconception that nondiscrimination laws exist federal level, but they are only sporadically enacted in certain states and/or municipalities, such as the case in Buckhannon.

Race is protected on a state and federal level, but not so for sexual orientation.

I assure you I am more involved in this cause than you even know, so I do know what I'm talking about.

It's just great that you can marry someone of the opposite sex, just like me. Good thing that happens to be who you are attracted to and fall in love with. That's great, for you. But I still have not gotten ONE reason how allowing gay people to marry affects you or anyone else in any way negatively. Easy answer: it doesn't.

Local government has no authority to enact law regarding such things, no more than Buckhannon could legalize pot, illegalize abortion, or pass a death penalty or compel prayer in the schools.

Tell me, Barry. Where does it say in the state constitution that you have to be a hateful bigot, like yourself, to live here?

Sexual orientation is protected in the state of WV. Just try turning away someone who is gay from renting a house or apartment you have for rent, you'll find out in a hurry about the law. As for how gay people getting married affects me and everyone around me, I'll tell you. No 1 it opens the door for all the other perversions, such as equality for brother sister, father daughter, pedros, or the animal freaks, which by the way, you never addressed the issue about them having the same right of equality as you. No. 2 with ssm being legal, that will give gays the green light to flaunt their gayness more openly, especially around children. That, for no other reason, is why it would affect me most. Having our children exposed to that confusing nonsense.
Barry, you cannot honestly believe that two consenting adults who aren't related but happen to be the same sex could be compared to incest and pedophilia? Homosexuality isn't even the same concept. Gay marriage would do one thing, and one thing only -- allow gays to get married.

And darlin', I can tell you that most children I know who are exposed to homosexuality find it to be no big deal. Hate is a learned trait, not an inherent one.

On this issue I believe in a few things. First It is not my place to judge, but Gods. If any judgment will be done, it will be by Him. Second, you cant pick and choose which parts of the Bible to throw out at people. There is also a part of the Bible that says a man has the right to stone his wife to death if he finds she isn't a virgin when they marry. It also says what types of meat we should and shouldnt eat. I am not homosexual. But I have many friends who are. I think they should have the same rights as other couples. I am not going to stand before God on judgement day and be guilty of judging others when it is not my place.

No they dont. Most places they can't marry, and in places they do it isn't recognized in other places. So they don't get the same rights. All they want is to be treated equal. They want nothing different from what we have.

They do have the same rights already. Not our fault they want something different from what we have already.
You have the right to marry the person you love. They do not. They are still discriminated against in employment and housing in many places. No one is discriminated against in this way for being straight. It is NEVER OK to treat a law abiding, tax paying citizen like they aren't as important as everyone else. Your argument is not based in reality.

You're a liar. If they get discriminated against in WV, you can file a lawsuit. It's that simple. Of course queers always use the discrimination card when it's convenient.
Hey Carl, take a deep breath- and repeat after me, "I am wrong, wrong, wrong, and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about."

There absolutely, unequivocally is no protections for homosexuals in West Virginia- not insofar as employment, housing, lodging, nothing. I could buy a company tomorrow, find out that Bill and Jane are homosexuals, bring them in and fire them on the spot. I could buy an apartment complex inhabited by month-to-month tenants, and upon determing that Bill and Joe are homosexuals, evict them for the simple fact that they are queer. There is NO federal protection for orientation yet. There may be in the next month or so as two potential landmark decisions will be announced by the U.S. Supreme Court that could make moot whatever it is that states do on the issue. But in West Virginia, the Human Rights Act specifically fails to include orientation as a protected class. The State Supreme Court similarly has held that in absence of legislative action, there are no protections afforded to homosexuals. End of story- there's no gray area in the law in WV.

Yup, you've got us. I'm a married straight man, who has no use for bigotry, or ridiculous narrow minded views. You're the type that is the closet homosexual and bashes gays because you're afraid you'll get caught. So keep sucking dicks in a dark alley. Eventually the truth will come out.

God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for a reason.

The bible speaks homosexuality as a perversion and such a thing is detestable to God.

Sure most gays don't believe in the bible or even god but that don't make it so.

10 states out of 52 now have legalized gay marriage.
1/5th of the United States.
If you don't believe God's judgement on this is coming then I wouldn't wanna be in your shoes.
