Another victory on the road to marriage equality in Colorado.

Next step will be to overturn the constitutional ban on marriage at the ballot.

Btw, the Minnesota House & Senate committees are debating and will vote on their marriage bill today.

You can watch the committee hearings live by going to the MN legislature website- www.senate.mn

Typical anti-gay arguments so far- bible, procreation, etc.

You people who are always willing to settle for "civil unions" are WRONG.

Should black Americans, freed from slavery after The War Between the States, have "settled for" indentured servitude before receiving full citizenship ?

And IF marriage is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT each adult American possesses, then HOW can you allow others to "vote on it" ?!

You'r undermining the U.S. Constitutional RIGHTS we all possess by supporting so-called "civil unions".

Since our Forefathers fought against the legal government at the time to secure their fundamental RIGHTS, how can you settle for less ?!

There should be NO COMPROMISE when demanding our RIGHTS.

Did George Washington compromise ?!

Did Abraham Lincoln compromise ?

Did Martin Luther King, Jr. compromise ?

ALL of these GREAT Americans said NO COMPROMISE ! We demand our RIGHTS !

Since you're a complete moron, I'll explain it to you.

First off, the correct analogy would be- should blacks have refused emancipation and demanded to remain slaves because emancipation didn't grant full citizenship?

If you oppose people voting on fundamental rights, then you must oppose legislatures from voting on marriage equality bills as well. To be consistent you must oppose the 9 SCOTUS justices from voting on it also.

One way or another, people are going to have to vote in order for us to be able to excercise our fundament right to vote.

If civil unions undermine our US constitutional rights, then so do state marriage laws because they don't provide equality on a federal level.

Should same-sex couples refuse to support marriage at the state level because they aren't recogized at the federal level?

Civil unions are a proven step to marriage equality.

The "8 state solution" just became the "9 state solution".

Ummm, YES, Lincoln DID compromise- many times.

Specifically he compromised by issuing an emancipation proclamation which ONLY freed slaves in confederate territory held by the union. It didn't even free those slaves in states in the union.

YES HE DID COMPROMISE.

Getting out rights recognized is a process, not a proclamation. But you're a complete moron so you woulndn't understand that.

Only if you suggest civil unions as the end point, rather than a means to an end.

It's bigotry if you REQUIRE them for certain groups, while denying them legal marriage, unless there is a valid state interest in such a denial.

But, for those families involved, it makes sense to take what protections are possible at the time, while continuing to fight for them ALL in the future.

And hopefully, by the end of June, the Supreme Court, shocking the crap out of everyone by using the Prop 8 case to overturn all state anti-marriage marriage amendments, Colorado will be discussing how to turn the civil unions into marriages.

I hope you're right.

I think in about 2 weeks, they'll hear arguments in the DOMA case and in the Prop. 8 case. Then, about 90 days after that, they'll issue their written decisions.

In some places there will be dancing in the streets.

And in some places there will be wailing and the gnashing of teeth...
