Typical queer rationalization. Ask the same question of any architect and they will look at you like you're an idiot.
You haven't travelled much, have you. They don't have separate men's and women's washrooms on planes or buses.

<quoted text>Oh here we go again with bathrooms. Get over it already. Signs on doors have nothing to do with "marriage". But your bathroom fixation does remind me of signs that said, "Whites only". That's not the society I want to live in and I doubt many want to return to that "Golden Age" of separate but equal.
You say we aren't trying to find a way to fit in and guess what, you're right. We're demanding to have what other citizens have.
As for the word "marriage" we use it because that is what it is. True some word say "A Rose by any other name" but why should we create a different term for something that is universally understood?
I do wish people would use the term "same sex marriage" since I feel it's more accurate than "gay marriage". But I'm not going to support some "civil unions" BS.
If YOU want us to use "civil unions" then help us change the law so we get the same rights, benefits and responsibilities every other married couple enjoys.
And for the last time get off the bathroom sign schtick. It's silly. We don't have separate facilities on buses and airplanes and the world is handling that perfectly well.
"If YOU want us to use "civil unions" then help us change the law so we get the same rights, benefits and responsibilities every other married couple enjoys."
That's what I have been saying all along. Remember my "dollar bill equals 4 quarters" analogy?

"We don't have separate facilities on buses and airplanes and the world is handling that perfectly well."
There's a difference, it's called economics. Try telling that to an architect.

So architects don't like crapping next to someone of the opposite sex?

Okay, the architects can have their own bathrooms then, but the rest of us can all share.

One room instead of two.
Ten stalls instead of 5.

Open to either gender.

Where's the extra expense?

Convention? Really??

You do realize it was also convention that whites & blacks had separate restrooms as well. In fact, in many places they just had white's only restrooms, and never even bothered with restrooms for blacks at all. I guess blacks were just expected to hold it or go crap behind a tree. Of course then the white cops would arrest them for public indecency.

Ahhh, the good old days.......

Oh yeah, convention is really something which should guide us going forward.

What a dumbass you are.

Yes, you brought up an example of a bad convention. But most conventions that survive have a logical purpose. Like if everyone drives on the right side of the road.
Society needs conventions, codes, standards, laws, etc., to maintain order.
For you to make a blanket statement that conventions serve no useful purpose simply confirms for me that the homosexual has no clue as to how a society works.
It is as if you expect society to adapt to you, rather than you adapting to society. The immaturity of the homosexual mind in incredible.

I find it amusing that when a gay wants to insult a straight, they will accuse the straight of being gay. When you do that, you are really insulting yourself.

And those that "hate' so badly about others, find something within themselves that they see within themselves. It really isn't amusing, it's sad. Straight? Be happy...carry on. Why haunt the gay threads 24/7?

Society always adapts, just like society has adapted to same-sex couples marrying.

Only the homophobes cling to outdated conventions while the rest of society has already moved on.

Maybe you can still find a "white's only" bathroom to use.......

We're not insulting you for being gay. We're insulting you for being a self-hating closet case who spends his entire day yapping on the gay topix.

How many of your "straight" friends do you know spend all day every day discussing the finer points of being gay?

A straight man would be watching the baseball playoffs or humping on his girlfriend or at least wacking off to the new Victoria Secret's catalog that came in the mail.

What are you doing again????

Welcome to the club.

Why do Canadian queers keep sticking their noses into America's business?
That was as dumb of a question as:
"Why do my neighbours keep sticking their noses in my business if all I'm doing is screaming at the top of my lungs and keeping them awake?"

Things that happen in the States affect Canadians as well.

Besides, Canadians are Americans too...or have you forgotten that both the United States and Canada reside in North America?

You mean the architects who designed a lot of the medical office buildings near where I live? The ones with a generic restroom and a handicapped one for each floor? The ones that say "restroom" on the door?

Umm, yes we do. I'm pretty sure that's why many of us want to marry the person we love. It's the conventional thing to do!

And the United States has an important convention used in founding the nation: that all are created equal, and have the inherent right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

And that bedrock of convention is why civil rights struggles including the struggle for LGBT legal equality will ultimately win. It's how successes were won for women, for non-whites, and for religious minorities.
