Fringe conservatives say they’ll defy any pro-LBGT Supreme Court rulings

There are 10 comments on the www.rawstory.com story from Jun 22, 2013, titled Fringe conservatives say they’ll defy any pro-LBGT Supreme Court rulings. In it, www.rawstory.com reports that:

A group of more than 200 once-prominent conservative activists have signed a letter published Thursday morning insisting that they will ignore any pro-same sex marriage decisions from the Supreme Court next week, should they come. According to Think Progress, the roster of signees reads like a “Who’s Who” of late 1990s anti-LGBT agitators including disgraced Jack Abramoff crony and former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed, the Catholic League’s Bill Donohue, anti-LGBT group leaders Tony Perkins and Rev. Louis Sheldon, whose organizations peaked in power and influence under the George W. Bush administration, and former right-wing elected officials like Ohio’s Ken Blackwell, professional homophobes like Focus on the Family founder Rev. James Dobson and one-time GOP presidential candidate Gary Bauer.

WHAT exactly are they going to "IGNORE". despite all their screaming and crying and hand-winging, whatever the decisions are in Prop 8 and DOMA, it really ISN'T going to affect them in the slightest.

these people are just crazy.

First it was "activist judges," and now that even the conservative justices on the Supreme Court are set to rule in our favor the "Court will be ruling beyond its proper constitutional role."

oooooo I wonder what they'll do?

Continue to preach bigotry?

That's a given.

Hold their breath till they turn blue?

Hold bake sales?

Ignore the parts of the Bible that tell them to be obedient to civil authorities?

Maybe they'll issue a new version of the Bible that cuts out all the stuff about compassion and kindness. Leave in all the good parts where God kills people and his chosen Righteous men get to get drunk and then have sex with their virgin daughters in a cave?

They'll stick their fingers in their ears and say, "La, la, la, la... I can't hear you. La, la, la..."

Since I've never been in this position, I don't know: What does it feel like when your knickers are ACTUALLY in a twist? Apparently this group can answer that.

They will go after creating a political context which will tie Marriage Equality to another issue that galvanizes the electorate, and use that groundswell to carry an Amendment to the U.S Constitution.

That's how Prohibition happened.

It only takes the "right 20%" to make it happen.

They will probably do as Snyper suggests, and go for a Constitutional Amendment. However, I think it is more likely that they will actively support discrimination in housing, hiring, and selling of goods and services. And probably their usual failed boycotts. In any event, it is not "ignoring" it is activist discrimination they seek. And the only thing it will lead to is more lost court cases and lost money for them and their supporters.

I think you're on to something here. Lately the game plan has been to claim that your religious rights allow you to justify religious discrimination.

These people are going to claim their religious rights are being violated. And they will get a lot of people to agree with them.

Good Boys! Now THAT'S thinking like a Jesuit.

This will build the punch vote in most districts to keep them at the table in every election campaign. A block vote waiting to be combined with some other, unforeseen issue(s) to make a big punch.

In the meantime, they have no idea who is the hand inside the glove manipulating the sticks controlling their strings.
