Tony Perkins Warns Support of Gay Rights by 'Liberal Jewish Folk' Hurts Israel

Jul 10, 2014 Full story: EDGE 37

Anti-gay hate group leader Tony Perkins once again tested the waters of "backdoor anti-semitism" last month when during an address to the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America, he took aim at what he called "liberal Jewish folk" who are pro choice and support marriage equality, warning that it will jeopardize America's support for Israel, Right Wing ... Tony Perkins was great in "Psycho", even if he was just playing himself. I see he's still making sequels all these years later. Not aging very well, is he?

"Messianic Jewish Alliance of America" = Jews for Jesus, right?

I'd call them collectively the anti christ if I weren't convinced Tony Perkins beat them to the title.

Actually, the one you are referring to was gay and died from AIDS, he didn't age well.

No other Jews recognize them as being Jews. These people are morons. The New Testament's Paulist epistles are clearly meant to override Old Testament law. The religions are not compatible. One says to pray with head covered; the other uncovered. One says to circumcise, the other to baptize but not to circumcise. One says to follow laws; the other say faith is what counts.

I think one can be a Buddhist and a Jew or a Buddhist and a Christian at the same time, as Buddhism focuses on completely different things than Abrahamic religions. But the three Abrahamic religions are not really mutually compatible at the same time.

It is quite a curiosity why ANY group of people would actually hire the most dysfunctional screeching hissy-fit homophobe on the planet to give them a lecture
.
I guess they hoped home delivery of anti-gay terrorism would be some sort of titillating experience for the senses
.
I can't picture any of the audience going home horned-up after being battered by Tony Perkins' putrified word salad

Anyone that knows anything about history will know that the U.S.'s unwavering support of Israel, no matter what horrible things they decide to do, isn't because of the American Jewish community. Our government doesn't give a damn about them.

It's because the Fundies believe that their sweet Jesus won't come back and start the rapture unless the Jews are in control of Israel. That's the only reason the Fundies give a damn about Israel.

That goes all the way back to 1947 and the reconstruction after WWII. And as long as the Fundies have more control over our government than the non-Fundies, that policy will continue and Israel will be able to do whatever they want and the U.S. taxpayers will fund it.

Ever wonder why George W. Bush, the born again "christian", fundie whack-job supported Israel so vehemently? That's why.

Oh, I think it is not quite that simple. American foreign policy is swayed by ethnic constituents, and when the ethnic groups in question have money to influence elections, it does make a difference. Israel is not the only example. The US's policies towards both Turkey and Azerbaijan are heavily influenced by the fact that there are many wealthy Greeks and Armenians in the US and relatively few Turks and Azeris. Of course, Fundies do play a part, especially when there is a president like G. W. Pubichair in power. In addition to lobbying influence, the US sees both Israel and the Saudis as stabilizing influences from a military standpoint, whether or not this is the correct view.

You're correct. And it serves as more evidence that religion is used for war, destruction, murder, and various other evils, than any other excuse. My sentence structure probably leaves a lot to be desired, but you get the idea.

That's interesting but I hardly think it requires analysis.

"Jews for Jesus" exists. These "Messianic Jews" are a version of that group, imo.

They exist. They're quite evidently insane. Nuff said.
