sounds like you don't know what you are talking about...and how old are you?

Futhermore, it wasn't speaking back I was referring to, it was people who can dish it out but can take it. Sounds to me you like the power of being on top, eh?

May I point out that Mr. Knight is really not the one making an issue of this. And why should Washington be left alone? He started all this by using hate-filled language and then lying about it. Bigots and liars deserve to be hassled.

First they came for the politically incorrect, and I didn’t speak up, because I was politically correct.

Then they came for the Christians, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Christian.

Then they came for the Pro-Americans, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Socialist.

Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.

Yes, God has spoken....He said "do not judge, lest ye be judged"
Guess you forgot that part, huh?
For some reason, people like you always do.
Oh yes ... It is much more fun to point at other people's supposed sins and believe "I" will be saved.

What a crock of horse manure!

It is so far off the mark from anything that resembles love. But, it sooths the conscience of many people. Think about this promise. You're told that if you accept Jesus into your heart, all your sins will be white as snow ... now that covers that base. Then you have to know that there is sin "out there," so there always has been the sinner to point fingers at.

You see ... years ago, people would put up with being called a sinner in the church,(because they were so scared of the devil hiding everywhere.) But the clergy can't get away with that anymore. So now people still need sin, but it has to be "other" people's sin.

Your member of clergy can read you like a book. They know which sermons are safe sermons and which ones will clear the church. They "must" tell people what the people want to hear, or the people will rebel.

And if you think I am pointing fingers ... you are correct!

Thank you. T.R Knight never started anything. Isaiah said one thing. Than they went on Oprah and just tried to cover it all up like everyone was cool and forgive and forget. Than Isaiah brought it back up at the Golden Globes after everyone was trying to move on from the incident.
Isaiah is a bigot, and as much as I love his acting ability, I cant be supporting someone who is just a bigot.
Its like Isaiah wants attention, And people stopped talking about him and oh no that cant happen so lets bring all this crap up again.

I dont know. The whole thing is just stupid. Isaiah is going to screw up his career with this.

During a backstage interview Monday at the Globes gala, Washington denied involvement in a heated on-set incident in October during which an anti-gay remark was reportedly uttered.

"No, I did not call (co-star) T.R.(Knight) a faggot," Washington told reporters. "Never happened, never happened."

In his apology Thursday, Washington acknowledged "repeating the word Monday night."

"I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on `Grey's Anatomy.' I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I've asked for help."

A perversion of the original poem....are you suggesting that what Washington is experience is the equivalent of concentration camps? Please...

And just who is the "they" to whom you refer? People who aren't homophobic?

As much as Washington's remarks have angered and offended me -- and who knows if his apology is sincere -- nevertheless, he has issued a public apology. Now, if he just manages to keep his mouth shut in the future, maybe we can move on from this issue and simply enjoy the show.

isaiah washington is not a hater of gays. In one of his very first movies he portrays a gay black republican desert storm vet.(spike Lee's) "Get on the Bus." in one scene washington prolifically describes his experience in desert storm where he was wounded by "friendly fire" and the real bigots who shot him were laughing that they had struck two in one a Gay and a Black with derogatory terms referring to both.

Ahhh, grow some balls.

The glbt community has slang for everyone on the planet - including themselves. Queer, diesel dyke, breeder... these are all terms used by the glbt community. What makes this terminology any more acceptable than "faggot"?

I can't believe that anyone takes GLAAD seriously. They've been a mess since the beginning. They claim to be against defamation, but it seems that most of what they do consists of passing out awards to themselves, and anything gay. It doesn't seem to matter that many of the award recipients continue to perpetuate stereotypes of gays and lesbians... apparently, anything gay is good.

Much ado about nothing.

A variation on a theme. The original poem was written by a survivor of Nazi Germany.

I am pointing out where we are going with the new "minority rules" attitude.

People are people, and gay groups, Black groups, etc have no higher morals or intelligence than anyone else, but it seems impossible to convince folks like yourself of that.

Agree to disagree is not acceptable to such folks. Instead forced re-education and harrasment is the ingenius approach taken.

From what I see, we are on the road to another holocaust or gulag of sorts...just a matter of time before yesterday's "norm" finshes being demonized into the new "enemy" that must destroyed.

If you cannot see the difference between putting people into concentration camps and expecting decent people to refrain from hate speech, then you are hopeless.

Get real.....Big difference.

He wasn't paid to say that at the awards show. Those were his OWN words.

He WAS paid to play a gay man and say the words that were WRITEN for him to say.

I think the man has a very real problem...one that I hope he gets help for.

Louisa, what is absolutely repugnant to me about christians and heterosexuals is that, as a group, BOTH reflect some of the worst things about being human! Theism - this includes christianity - is a CHOICE - an anti-human, anti-life, anti-democracy CHOICE! And those of you who believe that ANY human sexual orientation is a choice are just plain stupid. GROW UP! DO SOME CRITICAL THINKING AND RESEARCH - if you are capable of those activities - beyond your foul scriptures. One more thing: America is a pluaralistic, secular society established by Englightenment thinkers who disdained the intrusion of religion in the lives of the People. Read the founding documents - "We,the People..." established this government - not Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Jesus, Buddha! "We, the People..." Work at being a citizen, get educated, and stop denying other people the same equality you claim for yourself and your religion! Even if sexual orientation, "preference," "life style," were choices, AS A CITIZEN THEY ARE MY CHOICES I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO MAKE JUST LIKE YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE WHATEVER YOU WANT ABOUT "GOD." How does your thinking not allow you to understand that?

You are wrong. Just as the Catholic Church was wrong about the sun revolving around the earth, which was taught during the early middle ages, so religions are wrong in their tchgs on homosexuality.
Any religion that teaches the principles of hatred, bigotry and predjudice under the disguise of religion are more likely to be following Satan than the God of un-conditional and non-judgemental love that I have been taught to believe in.
Besides, where in the 4 Gospels, did Christ, himself, say one word condemning homosexuality?? He didn't. Only His human, and fallible followers, condemn the GLBT Communities. Human beings are not gods, and therefore, we need to refrain from judging the supposed sins of others, only God can do this.
Just because a man/woman claims to speak for God, doesn't make it so. Belief, in what a religious leader has to say is just that belief, it is not fact. NOR can anyone objectively prove that a particular individual actually communicates with God! Faith is not based on facts, it is based only on belief, which is subjective, not objective. Please keep your religious values in your own home and church and leave us non-believers alone. I do not share your belief in a hate filled god, nor would I ever want to.

He has the essence of the poem correct:
Here is the original (taken from a T-shirt, I happen to own. Also available on the Internet):

They first came for the Communists
and I didn't speak up--
because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews
and I didn't speak upo--
because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade
unionists and I didn't speak up--
because I wasn't a trade unionists.

Then they came for the Catholics
and I didn't speak up--
because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me--
and by that time no one
was left to speak up.

I have a question. Or maybe a few....

Although I do not buy trash mags, I do know that there are a lot of rumors about actors, musicians, professional athletes, etc. being in the "closet".

If gay actors, musicians and athletes came out to the public do you think it would make a difference in acceptance of gay people in general?

I ask because kids look up to "stars" as role models. As do some adults. Right or wrong, but they do. So wouldn't it help gay kids to know that there are gay role models out there? People that have made it and gainned acceptance in this world?

And why do gay "stars" stay in the closet? Is it because they are afraid their career would suffer? And would it? There are several actors today who acknowledge that they are gay and they are still working. I admire someone for their ability to perform, not their sexual orientation.

On the other hand, I do realize that they are under no obligation to do this as it really isn't any of our business.

However, I do think it would help the teens who are struggling with this on a daily basis. There are way too many suicides among gay teens. And it would help straight teens to see that some of the people they look up to are gay and it is OK that they are.

And it couldn't hurt for the sports watching public to know that some of their "heroes" are just like the people they are prejudiced against.

Bottom line....we are all alike except for one difference.....and why should that one difference matter so much to some?

Any thoughts on this? Anyone?

Do you really believe that someone would play a gay character if they "hated' gays (as some are claiming here)?

Some of you write some good stuff on these boards, but I think it's time most had a reality check. While careless and not the best thing to say, this wasn't hate speech. Get over it already.
