And that request can be denied.

Go ahead and appeal.

Just don't be too disappointed when you lose AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.

The stay will almost certainly be granted, if not by the 6th circuit, then by the SCOTUS as they did in Utah.

The big question is how many can get married before a stay is issued?

The release after 5pm on a Friday might have been intentional by the judge so he didn't have to stay his own ruling, but would allow the state time to get a stay before county clerk offices open on Monday.

Unless some open tonight or tomorrow just for fun!

Well DUH!

Michigan's hired hand attorneys lost because they screeched about children instead of presenting a meaningful defense against the subject of the lawsuit
.
Children are not a requirement for the purchase of a $35 marriage license at any county courthouse anywhere in America because fundies claim children born out of wedlock are illigitimate (or did they forget)
.
Now it's UTAH's hired hand attorneys turn to lose because they are screeching about children instead of presenting a meaningful defense against the subject of the lawsuit

Okay, now for the bad news.

The 6th circuit is the second slowest court to hear appeals. So assuming a stay if issued, we're looking at about 15 months MINIMUM before any ruling from them- that's summer 2015.

Set your clocks......

My husband ( an American ) and I are elated , to say the least .. I wonder how that sonofabitch first lover of mine ( from Royal Oak , Mich. ) reacted .. He went and married some dull girl so as to make his mother happy .. Serves him right too .

I've lost contact with him during the last few years and for all I know he might even be dead .. Wouldn't ask the widow fearing the shock might be too much for her ( she's a sweet girl, really, though my assessment of her dullness stands )..

That may be true......but all the States who have current legal challenges are at the 6th waiting for their appeals to be heard.......wonder if the 6th will combine them or hear them individually?

In how many of the Circuits do we currently have cases ?

Our goal should be at least 3 in each.
