Looks like the proverbial shit is hitting the fan.

When marriage equality finally arrives, nothing will change drastically. People won't all of a sudden quit procreating. People won't become gay or lesbian in any greater numbers than they already do. Some people will become more accepting and others won't. At the end of the day, people will realize that it was no big deal.

The floodgates are opening.

And for any that want to say we should wait till after the elections to push these cases I say BULL.

There is no reason for us to wait simply because we fear we might lose a few votes. The anti-gays will get out their troops anyway so let's give them plenty of time to show just how anti american they really are.

Soon it will be easier to just run articles about the states which don't have marriage equality cases underway or brewing. Commonwealths, also.

There is a VERY real danger here.

It is very easy to create effective memes about Judges reversing the popular vote.

It is almost impossible to create one that ex0plains why it is proper for the Judges to do so.

The first requires no thought or consideration to adopt and spread.

The second requires both thought and understanding. Not a meme-able quantity.

How about upholding the constitution?

How about we have a constitution to protect the rights of all citizens, not just the straight ones?

How about if states could vote on the issue, segregation would still be legal in most of the south?

People aren't as dumb as you think.

The anti-gays will cry foul no matter HOW these bans are overturned. Notice how they try to dismiss the last 4 statewide votes on the issue in "those liberal states". Look how hard they are trying to PREVENT a popular vote on the issue in states like Oregon, Ohio, Michigan, etc, now that they realize they might actually LOSE.

People aren't as dumb as you think.

About 44% to 49% of the population is exactly that dumb. (Maybe less now on marriage equality.) But not a majority.

I'm really getting tired of elder gays telling us to be patient and wait. The GOP hard liners will vote no matter what happens. For us to stay silent just so we don't rock the boat in fear of losing some undecideds is foolish. Many said, "Oh it's too soon to try to challenge DADTDP." If we had followed that line of reasoning I doubt we'd have the number of States in the marriage equality column as we have today. It's never TOO SOON to speak up against injustice. Please stop telling us to wait.

Don't be too hard on them. Remember they lived almost their entire lives in hiding and abject terror of being discovered. Even on anonymous sites like this they are worried someone may guess their true identity. So it's unrealistic to think they could ever be comfortable being openly gay, much less rocking the boat.

Pat them on the head, and then push full steam ahead for equality.

How many teabaggers were elected to Congress?

people are precisely as unthinkingly reactionary, and as susceptible to allowing memes to substitute for thoughtful consideration, as I think they are.

Teabaggers were elected because the Dems put up crappy candidates against them. Thankfully the Dems finally figured out where they went wrong as the Teabaggers overplayed their hand thinking the people actually supported their positions.
