The Dems control both the House & Senate in Illinois. There is no reason a marriage bill shouldn't pass. Any Dem who votes against it should lose any committee seats they hold and the DNC should deny any funding for their reelection.
If they're going to vote like a republican, then treat them like a republican
It's time to make support for marriage equality a litmus test for anyone who wants to run as a Democrat.

There's something to that, but I don't want to commit the errors of the Republicans. Face it. Our issues aren't centrist, however much they are directly tied to the core principles of our Constitution.
A big fight? Of course. Illinois is a State populated by extremely diverse views. Remember Skokie ?

We sure do want republicans to vote their conscience over their party. But we can't let Dems do the same?
