Full story: EDGE 734
Late Friday, just two days after the US Supreme Court released their decision gutting the Defense of Marriage Act, a permanent visa, aka green card, was issued to Traian Popov, a Bulgarian man married to Florida-based club DJ Julian Marsh. Full Story

Let's take a look at what the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says about marriage, pay close attention to section (3):
Article 16.
(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
(2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
(3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.
Marriage per the UN is men and women, not women and women or men and men.
You did notice that the document uses the plural form, men and women, not a man and a woman. Men can enter marriage and women can enter marriage, that statement doesn't say that it has to be to only each other, now does it? Sorry. It does say that religious objections to a marriage violate their human rights though. Any thoughts on that?

We're doing a good thing by keeping him off the streets and away from actual human beings. Here he is mostly harmless, in real life he could prove toxic.

Nah. I'm pretty sure after hearing his "People for Gay Marriage Are Secretly Nazis Stance", most people in the real world would go "Dude, what are you smoking, and where can I get some?" or "That's nice, Brian. Oh, look. A person that you don't know, but I do conveniently appeared in the distance. I gotta go say for some reason. Bye."

The UN isn't advocating radical revision of marriage laws; quite the opposite. They believe in marriage because "The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State." Keep marriage one man and one woman because that's human rights.

I'm not comparing gays, I'm comparing same sex marriage supporters; a totally different group. Many gays defend marriage as one man and one woman.

Brian, you are one dumb person.

You cited the US claiming that they were against gay marriage, when in fact the document you cite, and even the passage you cite here, are both neutral as to what constitutes a marriage or a family.

You applied your own bias to the UN's literature, and are apparently utterly ignorant of their movement in favor of equal rights for homosexuals.

Congratulations, this is another colossal blunder in a sea of colossal blunders that make you appear more babbling idiot than someone thoughtful and informed insight.

What an idiotic assertion.

thus far, you have been able to offer an example of one homosexual who defended "marriage" as being one man and one woman, and even they said that should not prevent same sex partners from having legal benefits that are the same as legal marriage.

Pony up some facts to back up your asinine claims or you risk looking like an imbecile, as you did in this post.

Reason 35 for keeping marriage male/female: Family, "the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State."
You fail to note that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted on 10 Dec. 1948, which was well before Marriage Equality became a serious issue. But as someone else noted, it does NOT SAY that marriage is only between one man AND one woman. Or, or you attempting to read the minds of the folks who wrote it?

Report: IRS Scrutiny Worse For Conservatives

House Republicans investigating IRS targeting of groups for extra scrutiny say they have proof conservatives had it worse.
A House Ways and Means Committee staff analysis of the applications of 111 conservative and progressive groups applying for tax exempt status found conservative applicants faced "more questions, more denials, more delays," says committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich.
That is, when the IRS sent groups letters asking for further information, conservative groups were asked more questions on average, three times more. All of the groups with "progressive" in their name were ultimately approved, while only 46 percent of conservative groups won approval. Others are still waiting for an answer or gave up.
Here's a chart laying out the committee's findings:
[Chart shows 100% approval of progressive group's applications.]

That's the point; same sex marriage never was a right. Also, it does say marriage is men and women and the reason to protect marriage is: "The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State."

You aren't going to argue same sex marriage is natural and fundamental because same sex couples can't have children because of the nature of human reproduction.

For some people, religion is the number one reason to keep marriage one man and one woman; on my list it's number 26.

Also, family predates government; our countries were created to protect marriage and family.

Brian, marriage is a fundamental right, and unless you can offer a compelling state interest served by denying same sex couples the right to marry, such a restriction is unconstitutional.

Much though you hate it, gay couples also have families and raise children. Get over it.

This argument is irrelevant, it is also idiotic.

Can an infertile heterosexual couple marry, Brian? Because if so, your argument just went out the window. If you weren't a dullard, you would realize there is no procreative requirement for legal marriage.

And you point is? Government carries with it certain legal rights and protections. Ours has guaranteed equal protection of the law for all.

Of course marriage is men and women. It just doesn't say only a man and a woman constitute a marriage, now does it?

No, some countries license polygamy; that's why "[i]t just doesn't say only a man and a woman." Also know, at the time of the declaration, there was no copy of any law from any time or any country that licensed same sex marriage.

Reason 35 for keeping marriage one man and one woman: The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State. Same sex couples marriage is neither natural or fundamental.
