Because homosexuals crave attention. He got what he was after, national attention, being in the spotlight, and having his ugly mug plastered all over TV and the newspapers.
But heterosexuals don't crave attention ...?

Is that why Magic Johnson has never admitted being HIV positive, because he didn't want the national attention or to have his ugly mug plastered all over TV and the newspapers?

Is that why Wilt Chamberlain has steadfastly declined to state whether or not he is still a virgin, or why we still have no idea whether or not David Beckham has ever been married? Is that why Kris Humphries refused to allow his wedding to Kim Kardashian to be publicized in any way, form, or fashion?

Is that why you're so circumspect on Topix, because you don't want to draw attention to yourself?

If you're not employed by a team, then you're not active.

Just like Tim Tebow isn't active.(I'm sure he'd like to be).

Why wouldn't Tebow be perfectly content being a bottom?

Foxy, Fck Off.

Go back and read the original post. For starters, the word "active" wasn't mentioned, and more importantly, your definition matters not a whit.

If you have a personal problem with the Huffington Post, contact them; in the meantime, STFU when the grownups are talking.

There are no openly gay active players in any of the men's national major sports leagues.

This will either improve his position in the draft dramatically, or give it a bit of a drag. He was seen as a 3rd or 4th round pick before this all came to light. Either some team is going to step up and take him earlier or they're going to be leery of the media attention he's going to bring with him and he'll slip lower.

You're wrong. There are many closeted gay players active in all the national sports leagues.

My guess is he'll slip a little lower, but not much. Some team--say, the Bears--will welcome the opportunity to sign a better player than they might otherwise have. If a team like the Patriots happened to need someone in that position, however, they might pick him early FOR the media attention. And a team like the Steelers probably doesn't worry much about the media attention, one way or the other. A Steeler fan is a Steeler fan.

According to "people" like you, if thy come out they crave attention. If they stay closeted, they are liars. For cryin' out loud, just come out of the closet, and live your life as a proud gay man, and quit worrying about what others do. You could actually live a happy and enjoyable life with the man of your choice.

That's pretty sad when Foxy is more correct on a matter of fact than you are.

No, I'm not wrong. There are NO OPENLY GAY players active in ANY of the national sports leagues.

NONE !

I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands of closeted gay players in the leagues, but NONE are openly gay.

The ten hours of posts per day suggests sexual orientation is the most significant thing in the closet cases' lives that you can name.

OTOH, I wish sexual orientation were private like the homophobes constantly bleat they want it to be - no more heterosexual dating shows, weddings, engagement announcements, beauty pageants, romantic comedies.

Would be a better world. Who wants to always be reminded how many str8 men violently rape and abuse women, after all?

Wow, the comments above certainly show the need for the first openly gay player.

Hopefully Sam will be the first of many.

Will "the gays" take over major league sports like blacks did?

That would be interesting...

You're wrong. Gareth Thomas was OPENLY GAY when he joined the WELSH national rugby league as an active player.

YOU don't know how to read and comprehend English, you insufferable twit. I've asked you REPEATEDLY not to engage with me on Topix, and you keep harassing me. I've made it perfectly clear that I loathe your politics, that I hold your opinions in contempt, and I find your incessant interjections obnoxious. You very seldom have anything constructive, or even interesting, to say. I consider you the gay R1, only you're more offensive because he KNOWS he's a troll.
