So you hope for a future full of discrimination and bigotry?

Weird.

The federal Equal Access Act REQUIRES they allow a GSA to meet on school grounds IF any other club also meets on school grounds.

if they refuse to allow a GSA to meet on school grounds, then they must also prohibit any other extra-curricular organization to meet.

Failure to faollow this federal may lead to a lawsuit which they would almost certianly lose.

I agree they'd eventually lose this too, but for now they are hanging onto a legality in the group's constitution. Basically, if the group agrees to conform to the district requirement that all organizations have advisors selected by the administration and approved by the board, then the board has no leg to stand on. I say change it, and make the board cave.

This isn't like the Glee Club fight about the Christmas program, which I actually support and hope they fight to the bitter end. This is something they should approve. I know some of the board is religious, as am I, but it doesn't mean you condone the behavior, it simply means you allow the club to exist as per law. Approve it and save the fight for actual valid arguments.

How about all the christian students join the q//ueer club and elect christians as officers. Start out with a legitimate overt christian prayer using the name of Jesus.

Probably because the Christian students these days are just as supportive of this group as the non-Christian students.

It's a new era, JTB. Over 70% of Americans under 30 support gay marriage, regardless of religious or political affiliation.

What tells you that? What evidence do you have that isn't true?

Why would any club elect officers with an agenda to undermine the purpose of the club? That would be like a Bible club electing officers who want the club to be more about the Quran.

And how often in the past 2-3 years have we heard about universitys trying to force bible clubs to accept anyone not only as members but as officers.

But there aren't any procreation clubs in high schools, are there?

Be serious.

The Gay Straight Alliance club OF COURSE allows straight people as members. It's right there in the name - Gay STRAIGHT Alliance.

However, the purpose of the club is to provide a safe place for students regardless of sexual orientation and to make schools welcoming environments for everyone. It is about education, support, and fighting discrimination. It is about caring, friendship, support.

So if someone was going to come in with the express purpose of undermining the reason the club exists, OF COURSE they will be met with resistance. Why wouldn't they be?

I don't pretend ANYONE is always polite and perfect. Why do you assume I'd pretend that of LGBT folks?

Be serious.
