The essence of Christianity is told us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the tree of knowledge. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just keep your fucking mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions. -Zap

Really?

If nothing else, religion provides a system of morals that all children should be taught. Unlike liberal idealogue such as murdering babies, making law abiding citizens powerless to defend themselves against armed criminals, taking hard earned resources away from the people to support a bloated and inefficient government, wanting that government to regulate all aspects of our lives because they believe a few elitist politicians know how you should live your life better than you do.

I'll take Christianity over liberalism any day.

Quote @ Decency: "But let me ask you this? Do you believe we should all follow your bible's word? If so, do you then believe that gays should be put to death? And if you believe they should be killed as is instructed in Leviticus, then how do you reconcile that with the 6th Commandment?

This is all irrelevant, mind you. Separation of church and state dictates your religious beliefs can not be endorsed by a government organization by the enforcement of your religious rules."

That's the beauty of this country. We're free to follow whatever religion we wish. And yes, Athiesm is considered a religion. That's what 'Separation of Church and State' as you put it is about.

Constitutionally, it's not about banning religion from every aspect of our lives that touches the public sector like liberals have twisted it to mean. It's about preventing government from establishing a 'State Religion' like the Anglican Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church have been at different times in history.

Like you said, the part of your statement I quoted is irrevelent. The law of the land won't allow it so there's no point in debating it.

As for the 6th Commandment, the King James Bible contains many mistranslations. One of them is the word "kill". Modern translations use the word 'murder'. There's a big difference in the two words.

What do you really think you gain from trying to hurt others? There is nothing in your religion suggesting you should use it as a weapon to further your bigotry; Jesus never ran around bullying gay kids in any bible story.
A Sin is a Sin! If you want to take a GOAT to the dance I guess you think it ok too. God does not hate sinners he just wants them to stop. If you choose to sin but realize you were WRONG and ask God to forgive you he will. The problem is some people don't agree with God on what is a Sin..... I guess they think they are above God. Witch one are you?

The bigoted self-righteousness on this thread is appalling, like ANYONE can speak for god and should force their religion on the rest of us! Let the kid take his date.

This is where you are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinion when it is shoved and your face. Just because you dont believe in changing the laws and believe it is just wrong, does NOT mean you hate anyone. It has turned into something very wrong when you are bashed because you dont believe as someone else does. This goes both ways. I dont care what you do but dont demand I change my mind and vote or bash be and call me a hater. It is my morals, my beliefs that it is wrong and will never change my vote or mind. I however would never treat anyone different or hate them because this is their choice. It is not my place to judge them but it is my place to vote the way I do. Jesus would have love them but told them of the sin they engaging in also. Your judgeing that people are bigots and bullying is in many cases unfounded. I do believe that the gays have done and are doing quite a bit of bullying as in Chick-Fillet and pouncing on churches that are preaching in love and homosexuality is wrong. It goes both ways. Everyone is entitled to their opinions without being bullied and hated for it.
