According to what I have read of the Bible, God created all things in a perfect design for the Garden of Eden.
Once humans and all other creatures got the boot into the real world, they (logically) became subject to the earth and atmosphere.
Sometime later, dust, polution, a little this and a little that being absorbed into the hum,an physique and the oddities began to emerge.
The oddities are a part of living in mortality, not something God made to happen.
But that is my opinion.
Of course, since God supposedly is omniscient then he knew that humans would get kicked out of the garden and the effects that the outside world, that he created, would have on them. If he knows the future and the past then... well it seems that some responsiblity should be his... okay, all the responsibility really.

Not another "God Hates Gays" thread. I don't know how much of the crap I can take.
Wasn't there a time when people used religion to say that slavery was ok? And then after that they used religion to condemn inter-racial marriage?
This is not a religious issue (unless the gay person wants to be christian then it is up to the church to decide if they want to accept him/her as they are or not) it is a civil/human rights issue.
LGBT's a humans right? Then they deserve the same rights as all the other civilians of this country right?
Ok then lets give them their equal rights as humans and civilians of this country and move on with our lives.

The Torah (first five books of the Hebrew Bible) is the primary source for Jewish views on homosexuality. It states that: "[A man] shall not lie with another man as [he would] with a woman, it is a toeva ("abomination") " (Leviticus 18:22).(Like many similar commandments, the stated punishment for willful violation is the death penalty, although in practice rabbinic Judaism rid itself of the death penalty for all practical purposes 2,000 years ago.)
Rabbinic Jewish tradition understands this verse to specifically prohibit a man from having anal sex with another man. Rabbinic works ban lesbian sex as well. What people today describe as psychological or biological homosexual inclination is not discussed among classical rabbis.

Sir as much as I appreciate your right to your own opinion... If you havent been to seminary and studied these Texts your speaking of things your not educated in. These specific things you speak of were Guide lines for the JEWISH nation to abide by specifically to set THEM apart from the rest of society at THAT time. If you notice, alot of the things written in the bible were aimed DIRECTLY at The Jews. When Jesus came around in the NEW Testament he told US to "Lay away the ways of the old and follow ME" That means dont practice the OLD JEWISH BELIEFS PRACTICE WHAT I ASK YOU TOO DO... In other words sir the Jewish laws are for the Jewish Nation to follow and the Teachings of CHRIST are what a CHRISTIAN should follow. Those would be the words in red. The rest of the Text is for reference purposes; and as a medical text. How many people actually abstain from Pig and Shellfish that AREN'T Jewish. My point exactly... Thanks for your oppinion now you have the facts. Please focus on the truth. Speak the truth or stop trying to be the teacher. Its the students trying to be the teacher that has turned a beautiful faith into an ugly tool for suppression and hatred. You can say what you like but the facts are the facts. Just ask a "real" Jew how they feel about OUR translations of THEIR texts. They will tell you that the English translations are full of inaccuracies that change the meanings of certain phrases. Most of the ones that are used to CHASTISE gays, Such as the Sodom and Ghamohrah story, Are about Rape and violent treatment of the innocent, Not consentual relationships based on love. LOVE, TOLERANCE, FORGIVENESS, and CHARITY are the main themes of Jesus's teachings. Please rethink what you are doing to others before you choose to witness if you are going to choose to do it in the name of Christ. You are supposed to Draw them too you NOT chase them away. Hmmmm... I just read Romans 1: 26-27, and it clearly condemns homosexuality. What I want to know is this: If God is not okay with homosexuality then why should I accept it? Shouldn't we take the word of God over mere men with disgraceful, shocking sexual appetites? The scriptures also point out that everything that is written in the bible is there for a good reason and for our benefit. It is quite clear that God does not want us to condone or behave in such manner.
John wrote:
Maybe the professor is talking about misconceptions in ministries that are attempting to rationalize homosexual behavior to accomodate a "everybody get along, feel good" doctrine which depicts scripture as "good ideas, but not necessarily factual"
If you can read Romans 1 and not equate its references in verses 26-27 as condemnation of homosexual behavior, you probably agree with the learned scholar.

Let's leave out all the senseless rhetoric. Either homosexuality is right or it is wrong. The bible states that it is wrong.

Live and let live? Yeah, and that's just what they did in the days of Sodom and Gomorah. It is true that the bible does not clearly condemn slavery, but it is stated in the bible to "have intense love for one another" - something that I doubt is demonstrated by putting someone in irons. However, the bible condemns homosexuality in no uncertain terms.

No they were destroyed because of RAPE and Violence. The men came to the door and demanded the Angels be turned over to them so they could "KNOW" them. It was about Rape. They wanted to force themselves on inoccent beings. That has NOTHING to do with Homosexuality.

And just why do you suppose that the cities were destroyed? Let us consider what the bible states in the book of Jude: I desire to remind YOU, despite YOUR knowing all things once for all time, that Jehovah, although he saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterwards destroyed those not showing faith. 6 And the angels that did not keep their original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place he has reserved with eternal bonds under dense darkness for the judgment of the great day. 7 So too Sod´om and Go·mor´rah and the cities about them, after they in the same manner as the foregoing ones had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before [us] as a [warning] example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire.

I think this sums it up quite clearly as to why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

The bible states that the cities were destroyed in part because of excessive fornication and the unnatural use of flesh. No doubt rape was perhaps part of it, but fornication encompasses more than just rape. Apparently, the inhabitants were involved in all sorts of loose conduct and disgusting things. The unnatural use of the flesh also points to unnatural sexual practices that God clearly condemns.
Leviticus 18: 22 states:“‘And you must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.

Yes, let us consider what Jesus has to say in this matter of letting it all hang out and everyone love and let live: What does it mean, then, to follow Jesus, and how can we do that? Well, what did Jesus do? Was he immoral? a fornicator? a drunkard? a liar? Was he dishonest in business? Of course not!'But,' you may ask,'do I have to clean all those things out of my life?' For the answer, consider Ephesians 4:17 through 5:5. It does not say that God will accept us no matter what we do. Instead, it tells us to be different from the worldly nations who have "come to be past all moral sense,... but you did not learn the Christ to be so ... Put away the old personality which conforms to your former course of conduct ... Let the stealer steal no more ... Let fornication and uncleanness of every sort or greediness not even be mentioned among you, just as it befits holy people ... For you know this, recognizing it for yourselves, that no fornicator or unclean person or greedy person—which means being an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and of God."

It is NOT 'silent'. But neither is the condemnatioon of homosexual acts as clear and unequivocal as in some other religions.
Actually, it is silent about it and not condemning at all, not even unclear or unconclusive, according to your own link. Didn't you read it?

The book of Leviticus does not teach that eating shrimp is an abomination. There were laws put in place because in those days people did not have the means of properly preparing food. The laws prohibiting certain foods were put in place as a protection against disease and bacteria.

Exactly. Can't opick and choose it is all or nothing.
10 commandments and the golden rule are all that really apply.
Because those other ones were written by men for men in a specific time period.
At least I hope so... because I like pork chops.
