This will be an interesting test of the strength of our arguments, being Utah is the most reliably Republican state in the nation.

Btw, the judge is an Obama appointee, but considered moderate.

Odd, that this is reported in a New Zealand newspaper.

(The only thing I know about New Zealand is it's "Bizarre".)

By that I guess you mean he's a Leninist and not a Stalinist.

The judge really hammered the state on their claims banning same-sex couples from marrying somehow promotes hetero procreation.

He said he would rule early next year.

I expect a ruling in our favor, which will send it to the 10th circuit which is split 5-5, but has 2 vacancies which could be filled by Obama appointees by then.

So you'd rather have a Bush appointed judge who would likely rule against us?

Yep, that's your typical Teabagger stupidity.

Being a Mormon who actively and openly supports the LGBT community , I can tell you that allies and supporters are growing rapidly.
I am in my 30's and I think as a whole most of us that are openly supportive are in our 30's and late 20's. However I have also seen an increase in the older generation becoming openly supportive. It is truly a beautiful thing to see and I pray that as time passes we will see more LDS supporting the LGBT community.

Judge Walker, who overturned Prop 8, was a Bush appointee.

And regarding Prop 8, SCOTUS ruled 5 - 4 that the proponents did not have standing, yet Justice Sotomayor, voted AGAINST us in that case.

However this goes, a State Appeal or just going with it, this is a historic day !

Hearty congratulations to the happy couple.

Not just married, but a place in the history books as well.

btw, CNN is reporting that there was an earthquake in Utah a short time ago. Seismologists have traced the epicenter to Brigham Young's grave where they measured him spinning at 3000 r.p.m.

Well the state DID ask for a summary judgment, and they got one. Just not the one they were expecting!!

I'm STILL in shock.

Can't believe they haven't asked for a stay yet either.

Guys, it gets sillier and sillier.

Judge Shelby's appointment to the Utah District Court Bench was heartily endorsed by BOTH of Utah's U.S.Senators, Hatch and Lee.

I'm looking forward to someone calling Judge Shelby "an activist judge".

A Mormon "activist judge"?

ROFLMFAO !!!!
