"In fact, something can be done, and it could have a dramatic impact on the Churchs image among Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Ironically, that something concerns another difficult matter for the Church ..."
That's right, but that would mean re-evaluating Thomism and/or the Catechism. It would change the idea of sexual morality. It would mean that pleasurable acts of sex would include all that is not condemned.
It is a big problem for the Church. This problem began 2000 years ago with Eunuchs infiltrating the Church. Eunuchs perpetuated themselves in the Church by abusing young boys. It is not homosexual priests that are the problem regarding pedophile priests, the problem is the Church protecting pedophile priests, perpetuating sexual abuse of young boys. This adult male-young boys is not homosexuality. Since the Church would have you believe the problem is homosexuality one must ask why? The answer is in the archives of the Vatican. The answer, undoubtedly, is that the Church does not want the world to know of the Church's gravest sin, pedophilia, the cover-up. It is so evident today it is not that difficult to reach into history and discover this gravest sin has existed from the beginning of the Roman Catholic Church. If dug into, history would be undeniable to the Church.
This then would allow for the Church to admit its sin and re-evaluate the whole of the Church's doctrine. And I do mean the whole of it. Sexual morality would change.

That's funny. Great sarcasm. But seriously, the American Catholic Church is about to do just that. It may or may not given that the Church, its Catholic Faith, demands unconditional acceptance of the Vatican's decrees. Well, the American Church has a great following of Liberal Catholics. They accept homosexuality. They are the ones that do not observe the Church's stand on contraceptives, or sex for pleasure. Either they will split from the Church or they will drag this out believing that the Church will eventually capitulate. Reading the history of beginning of the American Church's hierarchy development, Rome is not about to elect an American Cardinal as Pope. The church will remain conservative and that means against homosexuals and same-sex marriage. After all, homosexuality has been used as a scapegoat for the Church's gravest sin, the cover-up of pedophilia for 2000 years.
The Church cannot admit to this cover-up. It would destroy the legitamicy of the Church. It would call for rewriting the Church's doctrine. It would allow for a reversal of sexual ethics. None is will be allowed. Catholics will individually have to act.
