Is anyone other than me bothered by the fact that someone can be a county clerk and not know anything about our legal and judicial systems?

I'm not familiar with the requirements of this job, but this guy thinks that if he yells loud enough, he will get his way.
If he wants to stop gay marriages, then he should go back to school and become a divorce attorney.

Why hasn't the State of CA filed charges against this person for discrimination?

Other States have started filing against private businesses, they should also file against government workers as well.

Ever since the state Supreme Court's ruling against the Newsome marriages, the role of the county clerk is to shut up and marry whoever the state qualifies and only who the state qualifies. He's been told by the state to start issuing marriage licenses to qualified same sex couples, shut up and do your job.

Once again the anti gay demands special rights.

Better check the non discrimination laws in CA. The State of Washington had no problem filing CRIMINAL charges against a business. Government employees are expected to follow the law. Your side is having fits and filing suits over AG's not doing THEIR jobs but you'll threaten lawsuits to DEFEND a clerk who does the same thing!

I'm glad you showed the duplicity of your side. In PA your side wants the AG's head on silver platter for not pursuing a case SCOTUS has already ruled unconstitutional. You're OUTRAGED they won't "do their job".

Yet in this case you're threatening a lawsuit because you want a government worker to be paid for religious discrimination and refusing to do their job!

Sucks when you show how hypocritical your moral compass is.
Lawsuits? Bring it on! You'll lose just like before.

<quoted text>Discrimination? Based on what? Doing his job and abiding by the state constitution regarding marriage, Prop 8? Perhaps it is time to impeach the AG and Governor of Cali.
Prop 8 is NOT the law no matter how hard you click your heels together Dorothy! You lost in the lower Courts, appealed and lost at SCOTUS.

But thanks for showing once again that you prefer lies to the truth.

The clerk is guilty of religious discrimination and should face criminal charges just like anyone else.

OR kind of like someone who claims they follow God's Laws when they don't. Sort of like you!

What Does the Bible Say About Obeying Authority?
103 Bible verses you AND this clerk are disobeying

http://www.openbible.info/topics/obeying_auth...

Here's a sample:

Hebrews 13:17 ESV / Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Romans 13:1 ESV / Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Romans 13:1-5 ESV / Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

Romans 13:2 ESV / Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

Titus 3:1 ESV / Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,

Romans 12:17 ESV / Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.

Romans 13:3 ESV / For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,

Romans 13:1-14 ESV / Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience....

1 Peter 2:13-15 ESV / Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.

Sucks when even YOU dis GOD!

Have you taken 8th grade Civics class yet, or did you just sleep through it?

You REALLY believe a country clerk "has standing" to overrule a Federal Court ruling?? REALLY???

Why do people like you insist on making such fools of themselves by making such outrageous claims?

Well put. And so true. This is getting insane. They keep doing the same thing over and over, failing, and yet each time they expect a different result.

Isn't there a 12 step program for people like that?

These are the same people who are now insisting that all State AG's have a duty to defend DOMA laws in spite of the fact SCOTUS has clearly said the Federal Government can't allow such discrimination.

They lost in State Court and appealed. We challenged and won. They appealed. We won. These are they same people who have convinced business owners that if you say you're Christian you don't have to obey religious discrimination laws!

And now those people are facing criminal charges because they still believe the bigotry.

12 Step programs define insanity as doing the same self destructive thing over and over and expecting different results.

<quoted text>SCOTUS said no such thing about DOMA. Only section 3 of DOMA was ruled unconstitutional. As part of your baby 12 Step program, that means that only for those gays which the 13 states who allow same sex marriages are granted must be granted federal benefits. Again, no ruling that banning same sex marriage is unconstitutional.
I often wonder why gays keep doing the same things over and over, getting the same results of AIDS, depression, suicide and self hatred. Insanity, huh!
Actually I was referring to the decision in Windsor, not Prop 8.

Spin again.

You lost that appeal yet insist you don't have to plkay by the same rules as everyone else.

It's obvious you not only want special rights, but you expect them. And good luck convincing people we should still have to pay people who refuse to do their jobs.

That's what you did with Judges in Iowa, but now that it's one of yours, you want different standards applied.
