Who cares if he's gay...not a news worthy story

What does a person's sexual orientation have to do with how they perform their job? So he's gay. Who cares! As long as he can do the job, that's all that matters. I completely agree...not a news worthy story.

Like Vance said, "There are much more pressing issues facing the city" than his sexual orientation.

I care. I do not want him pushing his homosexual agenda into laws. Homosexuals are not right in the head. Being homosexual is not natural. They are wicked and secretive in all that they do. Do I care if a man is homosexual? No. But I do care when they push their agendas on us. And he will.

I have to agree with John Q. Does it seem right that the Military has its policy on gays and then we elect someone that is gay? What next?

Just because the military has an outdated policy in place, does that give us the right to discriminate against him? How about we focus on the job at hand and the vital issues facing our government instead of who this man sleeps with at night. You may not agree with homosexuality, but you shouldn't base your vote on sexual orientation.

Mr. Skinner was not elected as an openly gay man. When he campaigned he said that he had two daughters and implied that he was either divorced or a widower. Would I have voted for him if I had known? Well, if a man can't even be honest about his family, how honestly will he govern?

There are a lot of people out there that will not vote for an openly gay candidate. Just as there are a lot of people out there that won't vote for a black man.

It's my right as an American to base my vote off of whatever I view important.

I myself will never vote for an openly gay candidate, because they WILL force their views on the community. For example enacting all sorts of gay friendly ordinances, influencing the city's public library to carry more gay friendly materials, encouraging the school districts to include gay issues in their curriculum or extra curricular activities. I know it's a stretch, but it will be an issue that will affect this man's governing style.

How am I to trust this man's moral compass when his moral compass is already corrupted?

How convenient, he's now openly gay after misleading the voters about his orientation. Nice, well packaged website highlighting his status as a family man with 2 daughters. What about your homosexual partner, why not mention that mr family man?

How many voters realize this guy is a Vermont implant? Just what Waukesha needs, an East Coast Liberal who disguises his homosexuality but touts that he is a family man. Well my suggestion is to conduct a press conference with your wife, I mean your homosexual lover standing by yourside.

And for those of you who pronounce "I don't care if he is gay, it shouldn't matter..." Would you care if he was a pedophile? Do you think Gays in this country have a political agenda? Do you think the public should be kept in the dark about everything in a candidates persons life prior to voting?

If you don't see the dishonest efforts to mislead the voters you deserve to get the kind of people running this country like the Democrats who forced their socialist agenda dispite the majority of Americans voicing opposition to it. Dopes

Before the election a reporter for the local newspaper was questioned as to why this wasn't being covered. She said that mentioning his sexuality would be "defamation of character". Hmmm ...

"Hi, I'm (blank) and I'm running for (blank) and I'm gay". What? I'll reserve my judgment on how well he represents the area, just like our new mayor. Their actions and votes will be ours to judge over time. Having received his literature, read the website, and the paper, it's being wrongly stated that this guy said he was a widower or divorced. Actually there were some pretty nasty write-ups in the paper drawing attention to his sexual orientation and other misinfo – not news worthy! His opponent didn't hesitate in bringing it up going door to door, how upstanding! Then again, how does a gay family stay under a rock in Waukesha – that’s right they don’t. After all they are at our school, in lots of activities and he volunteers in the community, which is more than I can say for me or others! So stop judging a book by its cover before there is anything to judge. Everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves in whatever they do in life.

I'm not talking about what was in his literature, but in what he implied in his door - to - door visits. His opponant didn't stop at my house during the campaign - but did regularly throughout his service as an alderman, over the past 18 years!
But, back to the facts, even in his literature, he listed his family as "two daughters". He never said then, that he had been "with" his husband since April 2000, joined in a civil union ceremony in 2002 in Veront and married in Toronto in 2003.
And, his partner is listed on CCAP for a divorce filing on May 31, 2000 (after they got together) from a woman.(Judas denied Jesus to save his own life - Vance Skinner denied his partner to become alderman?) Do I think that I have a right to judge a candidate based on who they are and their moral standards or lack there of - I do. If morals and values aren't important to you - that's your problem. Straight or gay, this is a man without the values or morals I require in an elected official.

Like many other families, we’ve got to know Mr. Skinner and his family through park-rec, church and other events. They are without a doubt “out” in our community. You ma’am are malicious. You spread hate about this person, his family and continue your stone throwing for what appears to be your own self vindictive reasons. Karma is a terrible thing and perhaps a light needs to be shown on your closet because you are not without sin, I assure you! Why someone divorces is none of our business or yours just like it’s none of our business why people separate. But, knowing this couple, who have been together longer than many of us straight couples, I can assure you it’s not for the malicious reasons your are peddling. It’s clear to me and others who know Mr. Skinner that he cares about his family, friends, our church and the community. That is enough for me (gay or straight). And you ma'am were not at each door, but something tells me you are someone who sure wishes could know about others. Like what has been said, his opponent was kind enough to remind everyone about Mr. Skinner being gay (class act). You are a shameless hypocrite and certainly not someone who should invoke the name of the Lord. With that said, you do NOT have the authority or the right to judge. The Lord does.

"Sex in ancient Rome was all about power. Roman men were free to assert their manhood by sexually dominating those within the sphere of their control; women and slaves...among American men in the late ninteenth and early twentieth centuries, when effeminate men faoroes routinely courted masculine rough trade - apparently regular Joes who exclusively played the active sexual role and retained their masculine identities."

1 - "sir", not "ma'am"
2 - "Judgement" you certainly feel you have the right to make a lot of judgements about me - hypocritical?
3 - My issues with the man have to do with deceit and dishonesty. I know what happened in conversation at my door. My neighbors express the same.
4 - Funny that the man's sexuality was important enough for him to have the press come out on the night he took office. Once elected, it was he who wanted everyone to know that he's gay.
5 - What is an election if not a judgement? Like many of my neighbors, I like to have the facts - to use or discard according to my own values.
