The freshman senator who 'lectured' Feinstein does not have a leg to stand on, even when he tries to compare the 2nd Amendment to the 1st. No reasonable person would seriously argue that a citizen has the constitutional right to own an atomic weapon, or a ballistic missile or even a tank. So when it comes to 'the right to bear arms' all we're arguing is where to draw the line.

In the same way, it has already been established that the right to free speech does not guarantee a citizen the right to publish child pornography or shout 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre. That much has already been firmly established in law.

Actually, it's perfectly legal for a citizen to own a ballistic missile (I doubt you know what one is) or a tank. And many peope do own them. There was a tv show on for awhile about tanks owned by citizens which undergo overhaul and rebuilding. And there are many ski resorts that own howitzers, and similar artillery.

Teh? U are a right wing grade school dropout. How can you have an opinion?

Also, the constitution, like the Bible are prone to ashos saying only your opinion counts. Anyone who disagrees is immediately reviled. But, t'is the right butt cheek American Way. Bigotry and Hate. "U disagree and I will kill you". No compassion and no sense. The right to bear arms does NOT include automatic weapons and you are an, anti-American, idiot if you think it does.

I was merely pointng out that it is perfectly legal for a private citizen, or other private entity to own a military tank, a howitzer, and other military items. Maybe it's against the law in The People's Demokratik Socialist Republik Of Kanada, but not here in the good ol' U.S.A. it certainly is not !

(Some ski resorts use military howitzers for avalanche control. I read an amusing story awhile ago, about 2 teenage employees of a ski resort in Colorado, who were given the task of clearing some snow in a particular area of the resort to prevent an avalanche. Unforunately the teenage employees somehow mis-aimed the howitzer, and when they fired it, the shell landed and exploded in the backyard of a home. The homeowner complained. LOL)

When it comes to missles or rockets ,it is just the shell that can be owned with special license but functioning tanks and howitzers can be owned in a few states with the correct license from the gvmt.

I find it absurd that a functioning tank or howitzer can be owned but either way you are correct.

The rounds can not be owned which enrages the NRA.

There are hollow , non functioning display tanks and howitzers and barrels are full of cement in several hotels and restaurants.

Think long island , NY has an aviation type restuarant with non functioning ADA exhibit.

Actually, on Long Island, which is where I am from, out east for many years they had an armor museum with numerous military tanks on display, some that were fully functional. I think it was in Mattituck if I remember correctly (I rarely went to teh North Fork). But the guy moved all the armored vehicles and tanks to a new museum down south years ago, I believe.

Those particular artillery rounds are issued by forest dept and contain a "weak" charge which is as you noted for avalanche control.

I have never heard or one landing in a persons yard because as weak as the charge is they leave a a hell of a crater.

I think that as of a few years ago only the forest dept is able to fire the howitzer .

Yeah, and the Kardashians just ignore the cameras and are always in full make up and hair and designer clothes given to them for free as they go about their daily doings, while all their little problems are cleared up in 46 minutes, allowing for commercials.

I also remember a news story some time ago that took place in Connecticut.

A cop was driving down teh road on patrol, when he saw a flatbed trailer on the side of the road. The tractor hauling it was gone. Strapped to teh flatbed trailer was a Soviet T-55 tank with an operable machine gun on the turret.

The cop removed teh machine gun and brought it to his police station (he couldn't move the tank with his patrol car). A few hours later, someone called to report that their machine gun from their tank was stolen ! The police returned teh machine gun to the owner of teh tank.

The truckdriver reported that he left teh tank and trailer on teh side of teh road, when he discovered he did not have all of the necessery government permits needed to transport such a large heavy load on Connecticut roads. After obtaining the necessery permits, he returnd to the flatbed and tank to discover teh machine gun missisng. The tank was headed for a private museum.

Being from Bayside, I recall Long island had a few places with privately owned tanks but since 9-11 the regulations changed.

I go fishing by the everglade borders and once in awhile I see those WW1 fighter planes which you can own here (no guns or ammo on them) and they are neat.
Actually not sure if replicas or actual but you feel like you are back in time when they fly over.

You have to give the Kardashians credit at being brilliant as far as self promotion.
They have no talent and yet simply by being Kardashians , they are making tens of millions a year.

I have always respected those who can do that, seeing that I too have no talent but just can't figure out how to do that, lol.

Kim has some type store in south beach which I hear is always packed with tourist .

The armor museum in Mattituck I remmeber being open in the early 80's I think. I don't remember the circumstances of him moving it out of state.

As I said, I rarely went to the North Fork,as we had a summer home that my father built in Southampton, and we spent a lot of time over the decades spending weekends and the summmer and vacation times at the summer house in Southampton. It's on Noyac Road about 1/4 east of Trout Lake. Back then (early 1960's thru 1980's), the houses did not have addresses at all, and we had no tv, nor phone nor heat in the house. That's the way my father wanted it because he wanted to get away from such tings.

In the early 60's when he was building it, before there were floors or interiror walls or ceilings, we slept on $4 army cots with electric blankets at night. And it was about a 90 mile trip from Queens Village to go out there. My father did ALL the plumbing, electric work, concrete work, flooring, ceilings, partitions, lighting, and everything else on that house. The only thing he didn't do was erect the shell. About 25 years after building it, in the late 1980's he finally had installed a cellar, heating, a telephone, and a tv.

But before that when we went out to the summer home, our main activities were saltwater fishing, and reading comic books because we had no tv or telephone.

I remember when my father's mother died in 1976 and he had to get the word from a neighbor because we had no phone, even though my grandmother and grandfather and my family al lived on Long Island.

Incidentally, it's still winter and it's been in the 90's here the past 2 days.:)(Supposed to cool all the way down to 80 degrees tomorrow).
