The Gay Bible

Yes, it is true. New Mexico-based Revision Studios will publish The Princess Diana Bible so named because of Diana's "many good works", it says in spring 2009.

The authors of this bible claim that there is solid evidence that Adam and Eve were actually two women, Aida and Eve. They also stated, "In Biblical times homosexual relationships were so commonplace that no one gave it a second thought. It was heterosexuality that was considered sinful."

Sorry, but a really important part of excersisng what rights we do have, is to have the wisdom to know when not to. This is an unnecessary sideshow and only serves to do far more harm than good. We get thumped more than enough with currently available dubious English translations of the Bible, why would anyone want to hand the zealots one of "our" own design? Yes, the good folks at the sadly, appropriately named Revisionist Studios have the right to believe and publish as they see fit, but for crying out loud, why would you want to deliberately offend so many people at once? Don't we have enough issues to deal with without having the handgrenade of a "Gay Bible" tossed in our laps by those who say they are on our side????

I agree with Rick in Kansas. The real answers are already there if you look. There is no need for yet another interpretation which creates a "Gay Bible". We do not need to reinterpret just understand what is there. It is pretty simple. Christians should focus on the New Testament and specifically the actual teachings of Christ. Who said absolutely nothing about homosexuality.

Rick, for the record, I don't approve of it, but it now out there, and we must deal with it. I don't believe in ANY bible, but I appreaciate the humor in this. I don't know anything about the Revision Studios, but I think the project serves to prove that religion is a farce, and should not be used to "prove" anything. Actually, I think it would be helpful to flood the market with all kinds of whacko bibles, thus diluting the very essence of the various "real" bibles. I say "let's get them all into the bedside tables in every hotel and motel in the country".

I guess I just have a somewhat sick sense of humor.

I am gay, and I find this new "bible" offensive and counter productive, and while I support the right of the publisher to publish this collection of nonsense, I question the wisdom of it.
It seems like it serves no purpose other than to be provocative.
As to solid evidence that there was an Aida and Eve - I hope that this was a joke...there is no solid evidence to anything in the Bible, and that is the reason that religions are Faith based. Actually, I hope that this whole thing is an Onion style joke.

Instead of rewriting the Bible, which is a fairly silly collection of folklore, why not create something more original -- like a new religion that fully accepts gay people and doesn't have to deal with existing denominations which do not.

And as a side to OutVoice: You assumed the people involved in this silly exercise were Christians? How do you know they were not Jews or even Muslims or Hindus? As with most of you Americans, you always assume everyone is a Christian!

You can call the Bible folklore or a book of myths but I hope the few of you who do know the bible know your fulfilling biblical prophecy to the T of what was predicted of gays actions. I am sitting here truly shocked by this talk and the sacrilege of what you actually considering.

This just reinforces that gays need a gay "rights"leader cause some of you obviously don't think clearly and you are your own worst enemy.

Per your side to OutVoice. I did not say Christians were doing this. I said where religious focus should be for Christians. Totally different.

This re write is aimed at demeaning the very core of most Christians, of what you are...

Once again Blk & Str8t you are totally off. There are no "gay" predictions. And as I have said before you are just following and promoting a religion forced upon your people by bigots. Proven fact that Afro-Americans were forced to accept Christianity and abandon original beliefs. So does that mean those bigots won years ago??? You are doing a great job of furthering a truly white supremacist agenda. Bet they will not thank you for that either.

OMG You don't know what your talking about AT ALL.

The bible is the historical story of my people (blacks) and our lineage. Blacks brought this history (bible) to whites many years ago. Did whites later try to run manip on blacks after their fall? YES. But that in know way changes the fact that the bible is the story of the many very real black bloodlines.

And yes, gays actions are predicted in the bible.....sorry but it is true.

Of course, there are problems with every bible translation, as well as at least three somewhat different texts to translate from. I don't believe believe in the bible either, but the amateur historian in me likes a translation to be as accurate as possible and cringes at a deliberately inaccurate one. That aside, I doubt this PDB bible could flood the market. Bible believers and churches all have their favorite translations and will continue to buy those. I think the Gideon's bible is still the one that gets distributed to hotels--They seem to have a monopoly on that market.

It seems to me that re-writing a deeply respected religious text (no matter how admittedly much it was distorted in translation and interpretation to begin with) is likely to be considered blasphemous by even moderate Christians.

Besides, every one knows that it was Adam and Steve, not Aida and Eve. ;-)

LOL Me thinks that Blk & Str8t protests way too much. You just keep belivin' and pumping that centuries old white supremacist thinking there guy. But really try reading an actual history book that has facts and not fiction. The Bible's take on dark skin justified slavery. How could this then be the history of your people. But it seems you think everything is yours. LOL What ya been smoking?

OutVoice, this was released in New Mexico, and in the U.S.A, with Christianity being the dominant religion, it is not at all absurd to assume that this was based on the Christian bible. It is almost always assumed that the religion being discussed is Christianity if no other is named, at least from my perspective here in Texas

What take on the bible speaks negatively of the blacks.....you mean song of songs where she says I am black but lovely.....is that the one. Or maybe it's when Jesus said his skin was like fine brass with hair like lambs wool..is it that one.

Negative or positive the whole bible is about black people and their blood lines, white supremacy has nothing to do with that.

And if you don't know the bible is the story of black people you need to not have this conversation with me until your well versed on the issue.

The Bible talks of the Romans and the Jews..it doesn't mention black people at all...how can it be your history? Your history goes back to Afro- Caribbean pagan gods (Volcanos and the like). You adopted Christianity through English missionaries.
