That will leave more unwanted children for hordes of drunken and drug-addicted Russian parents to drown, throw against the wall or cook and eat. This is not just sarcasm, it is happening on a daily basis in that country.

Many gay men go to foreign countries to adopt little boys. I wonder why they adopt little boys? Hmmmm.

After the fall of communism in the old Soviet Union, I had high hopes that Russia wold become a "normal" country, and would be best friends with the U.S. so that we could work together to help solve some of the world's problems.

But the BIGGEST mistake President Yeltsin ever made was in choosing Putin to succeed him. Putin is just the latest in a long line of Russian despots, and is basically a "Stalin-lite".

Can Russian escape it's past ? Sadly, so far the answer is "no", and it does not appear that Russia will be able to escape it's past in the foreseeable future.:( Putin may become the longest-reigning Russian dictator in the past 100 years or more.

And unlike President Yeltsin, Putin apparently does not want to on friendly terms with us, nor the west. And with a population that has been shrinking since the 1980's, and a per capita GDP that is only 43rd in the world, it is difficult to understand what Putin hopes to accomplish by going it alone.

Pity the poor Russian people..........
