It may be a "turn in attitude", but it's still just a "blessing" and not an actual marriage ceremony... which is still just a recommendation.

I'd be satisfied with it being a purely civil ceremony. England needs to separate church and state very firmly.

There was some talk a little while ago about Parliament enacting a law that would force the C of E to perform SSM since the Church was the state religion. I wonder if this is the Church's response to blunt that effort.

I do agree the separation of church and state is ideal everywhere. Germany even has a church tax that they collect for the churches. I guess that's why the RCC bishop there could build his $40 million dollar mansion.

Yeah, but just to be completely fair, it was a renovation of an architecturally important building.
