They're just using gay people as an excuse to play hookey from church

I get so sick and tired of hearing of the hatred, bigotry and discrimination so wantonly exhibited by members of "god's church." And they don't even recognize it! They hide behind what anyone thinking person with an 8th grade reading comprehension would call a gross misinterpretation of a few select verses from their ancient "holy text" -- while simultaneously ignoring many other much more clear admonitions and unambiguous prohibitions in the same book!

What is wrong with people like this? Do they actually think that they are pulling the wool over the eyes of their all-knowing deity? Or that aforesaid all-knowing and all-powerful deity actually needs their human intervention to keep his followers pure and true?

Every attempt, every action, that denies any homosexual person the same respect, the same rights, the same humanity given to others, is ALWAYS, EVERY TIME, grounded in some ancient religious belief that is just ridiculous, wrong, and evil. These self-professed arbiters of "morality" are a stain on all groups that consider themselves on "god's" side.

Then they wring their hands, wailing about people leaving their groups, whining about how society treats them like pariahs. And why would we not? Actions like this speak much louder than any words ever will. And their actions, and their words, are despicable. Since they believe that all persons will be held accountable at some point by their deity, exactly WHAT will they say when said deity asks them why they treated others of his creation like this?

As I posted on Facebook: Leave it to "evangelicals" to destroy whatever they touch.

I know these folks aren't Catholic, but I just thought I would post this little story here, anyway. A friend sent it to me this morning. Enjoy:

When Pope Francis recently finished his first sermon, he ended it with the Latin phrase, "Tuti Homini" - Blessed be Mankind. The following day a women's rights group approached the Pope complaining that the Pope blessed all Mankind, but not Womankind.

So following his next sermon, the Pope concluded by saying, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini" - Blessed be Mankind and Womankind.

The day after that, a gay rights group approached the Pope noting that he blessed Mankind and Womankind and asked if he could also bless gay people. The Pope said, "Sure."

So the Pope concluded his next sermon with, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini, et Tuti Fruiti."- and all constituencies were satisfied.

Typical. Here we have a group of people who came together and joined a church. That Church is supposedly guided by the Holy Spirit. Yet when the Holy Spirit says, "Hey folks you're not treating this group the way you should" the people give the Holy Spirit the middle finger and say, "well if you won't follow OUR rules then we'll take our marbles and go play somewhere else."

Aren't faith and doctrine wonderful?
