Of course they were bigots because man is man while woman is merely "wife".

Just products of their times.

Peter, Paul and Mary are bigots because they said "man and wife" in a song? Seriously? Really?
Yes, the poster "Andrew" was being sarcastic, but it appears that neither of you actually read the article. Did you?

Obviously, PP&M are not homophobic, as the article points out. It says that singers Peter and Paul have made this clear. This was nothing but stooges from the hate-group FRC trying to childishly bait an argument.

And the only "bigotry" that Snyper pointed out was the use of the phrase "man and wife" rather than "husband and wife", giving the man his own independent title, while the woman is reduced to being a function of the man. But, as Snyper also pointed out, this was merely a product of the times. He was being nearly as sarcastic as Andrew was (though he couldn't really come close, considering how overboard Andrew went).

"Liberal PC crap" is nothing but right-wing code for "I can't call people all the divisive and exclusionary slurs that I want, even though they're clearly inferior to me".

Ah, the ever convenient "right-wing code." So you wouldn't be surprised at charges of "gay-code." And considering your making up that "right-wing code" how can you be surprised or offended if somebody makes claims about a "gay code?"

There's a good chance that you, personally, really are inferior, but "clearly" not because of your orientation.

It was facetious, and more than a bit satirical.

fa·ce·tious [fuh-see-shuhs] adjective.

1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark
2. joking or jesting often inappropriately : waggish "just being factious"
3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something non-essential, amusing, or frivolous : a facetious person

If the "scholar" of the FRC wants to be ridiculous, then I want to play, too.

In other days the wedding vows said "man and wife", now they are "husband and wife" to prove that the woman has an equal stand in the marriage. Unless YOU treat your little wifey as a piece of property like in the bronze age.

Somehow I think you still wish it were the good old days when white hetero males ruled the roost.

Since you hate PC, I guess when your daughter was born you handed her an apron and scrub brush, since a woman being an equal to a man is just yesterday's PC and a woman is only good for having babies and cleaning house.

Who said anything about a "gay code" and when did I say I was offended by such a statement? No one said any such thing. When they do, I'll address it. You don't need to invent possible offenses, in hopes that one will rile me.

Sure, there's "gay code" that some people use, and it's usually just as obvious and easily decoded as "right-wing code".

Did my statement about "right-wing code" offend you? I think I understand that you consider yourself Republican, but that you don't stick with the party platform on gay issues. Could you see that "Max" had nothing better to say than complain about being asked to be "PC"? In other words, he can barely be bothered to treat others with some respect and dignity. When it comes to gay people, that's the Republican position, and this will be the right-wing talking points. It's hard to believe that there are people in this world who actually have to be SOLD on the idea of sharing the planet respectfully with others. It's worse to realize that these people will RESIST the idea.

There's "gay code" just as much as there's "teenager code" or "soccer mom code" or "cowboy code" or "astronaut code". Everyone has their way of saying things that make it easier to understand to their "in-group".

But so what? No one mentioned "gay code" except for you. Was this something you wanted to discuss?

The only reason I mentioned "right-wing code" is because "Max" felt the need to bemoan "liberal PC crap", and this can only mean one thing: "The world is heading in the direction of being nice to everyone, and I don't want to do it."

Do you agree that this is probably what Max meant? Disagree? I couldn't care less what other codes you also think I speak in. I'm interested in why it's a right-wing trope to treat "outsiders" like crap, and to resist any effort to be kinder to them.

It isn't "liberals" who push PC-ism. It's pushed by the people who are themselves being maligned and excluded. They're saying "If you wouldn't mind, we'd prefer it if you used a proper word to describe us rather than a slur". Liberals simply recognize that we ALL probably prefer this, and we all CERTAINLY deserve it.

Max clearly doesn't, and clearly resents even being asked.

But, if the important issue to you is that everyone uses a code sometimes, then no, please don't bother.

Nope. Just wanted to show what a fraud you were with your snarky "right-wing code" crap.

If you actually believe that crap, you're even dumber and more of a fraud than I thought!

It isn't. What a surprise, you're being dishonest.(Did I mention what a surprise that was? And you believe me, right?) I'm almost (but not quite since I wouldn't expect an honest answer) interested in why it's self-righteous, extreme left wing (sorry, "progressive") trope (yes, I had to look the word up) to treat anybody who dares not embrace whatever myopic party line drivel they are espousing at any particular nanosecond, as intellectual and emotional inferiors.

And even somebody like yourself should know by now that I enjoy exposing hypocrites and frauds. And if you don't understand that, or otherwise try to come up with a pseudo-clever rejoinder, you're likely one of those types I enjoy exposing.

Did you maybe want to explain HOW I'm being a fraud? Or will we have a better conversation if you're vague and mysterious?

Have you never heard the phrase "liberal PC crap" before? How else am I supposed to take that, other than "I'm being force to be good to people who ain't no good"? Maybe you're just a different kind of Republican than Max.

If I post something, go ahead and assume that I believe it (unless it's obvious sarcasm).

But I am curious what you think I'm being fraudulent about. Do you think I'm actually a conservative, posing as a liberal, saying bad things about conservatives, trying to make liberals look bad?
BS Detector wrote:

This is the ONE piece of informative input in your entire post, and look how vague it is. Were you going to explain how welcoming of diversity the Republican party really is? It's not as if minorities are flocking there, you gotta admit.

This is all because of what I said to Max? Who hasn't even been back to defend HIMSELF? Are you sure you want to be aligned with that? Did he SEEM like an intellectual and emotional equal?

It's neither myopic nor drivel to be accepting of the vast range of human plurality. It's EASY to embrace. What's so difficult about embracing diversity?

Well, have fun, good luck. May I suggest being more forthcoming about HOW and WHY you think people are being hypocrites and frauds? You aren't really "exposing" anything if you don't point out what you're exposing.
